SEND LIZZIE BORDEN TO WASHINGTON ... Ann Coulter
Ann Coulter Dot Com ^ | 21 Mar 2012 | Ann Coulter

Any Republican governor of a blue state who manages to balance the budget without raising taxes should be a nominee for Mount Rushmore, to say nothing of president.

Mitt Romney was governor of a state so blue, it's North Korea with more Irish people, and he balanced the budget without raising taxes.

Even Ronald Reagan raised taxes as governor of California, imposing a $1 billion tax increase his first year in office. It was the largest tax hike by a governor in the nation's history, raising income, corporate, sales and inheritance taxes. Five years later, Reagan raised taxes again by another $1.5 billion.

To be fair, unlike liberals, he also provided tax rebates that, over his tenure in office, totaled $5.7 billion, including $4 billion in property tax rebates.

But even Reagan didn't stop the growth of state government: While he was governor of California, the budget increased from $4.6 billion to $10.2 billion.

Republicans are able to contextualize Reagan's record -– it was California! -- but seem unable to contextualize Mitt Romney's record, even though he had to govern a state far more liberal than California was half a century ago.

Oh, and the “without raising taxes” is a crock too. Romney raised taxes and, especially, fees.

Mitt is a superb administrator, and arguably a fiscal conservative. I would call him a social conservative in the sense of not having the government intervene in family or religious life. He is not hostile towards gays or other unconventional types, he just doesn't want to use the government to advance their agenda. He's not as libertarian as I would prefer, but we can all agree, he's a dammed sight better than the incumbent.

You're out of your effin' mind, the only difference between 0bama and Mitt-Witt is that 0bama (if re-elected) will continue to pour the bottle labeled 'socialism' down America's throat against our will, if Romney somehow gets in there (unlikely), the same bottle of socialism will continue to be served up, except in exquisite crystal goblets.

0bama is a pro-abortionist pig, Romney ran to the LEFT of that child-murdering fat slob Teddy Kennedy while proclaiming that he not only didn't want to see Roe v. Wade overturned, he did not want to "return to Reagan-Bush", and as for him not wanting to "use the government to advance the [homosexual] agenda", that didn't stop him from using the governmental apparatus of the State of Massachusetts in May 2004 to proclaim "Youth Gay Pride Day".

Fiscal conservative? Don't kid yourself.

- Gun permits raised from $25 to $100, in fact state fees overall increased by 500 million during his time as governor and corporate tax rates went up nearly 400 million.

- Let's revisit that homosexual issue too: when Romney was Governor of your fine (snort) state, refused to consider GOP lawyers for 75% of the 36 judicial vacancies he had to fill, preferring to appoint Democrats or independents, including two homosexual lawyers who were advocates of expanding same-sex 'rights'. Now ask yourself what sort of SCOTUS nominees a 'President Romney' would make? NOT MUCH DIFFERENT than Snootomeyer, Kwazy Kagen, et al.

- During Romney's tenure as Governor, the GOP lost more seats in the Massachusetts house than at any time since the Civil War.

Had enough yet? Oh wait:

"he's a dammed sight better than the incumbent."

GIVE ... YOUR ... HEAD ... A ... SHAKE.

Bottom line he has weak personality, stumbles when he speaks, which gives me the impression he is a lier. He is not a fixer, plus his Romney Care never-mind it’s ties Obama Care. If it is not Newt we are finished.

I can think of dozens of people I would prefer to Romney, but Romney is just sooooo much better than Obama.

I still remember reminding my wife in 2008 what the alternative was. Actually, Obama far exceeded my worst fears. Obama 2.0 would be that much worse.

Ann Coulter makes a better case for Romney than Romney himself makes or deserves. The only thing that can truly be said for him is that he’s better than Obama and that’s the faintest of praise.

I don't think you are supposed to post anything from any GOP elected officials, former elected officials, campaign advisers, talk show hosts, or columnists. They are all RINOs. The last real conservative Jim DeMint was outed when he said he did have a problem with Romney.

Leftist sources that attack Romney are OK still.

Once again I am reminded of the words of Thomas Sowell who had criticized George Bush for raising taxes and other policies yet endorsed him in his race against Clinton. He said,”The choice is between a second class fireman and a first class arsonist.”

This woman is incredibly ignorant or she is being purposely misleading to try to get a liberal elected as the GOP nominee.

She knows exactly what she is doing. She thinks Mittens is gonna win it, and she's jumped on his wagon early in order to reap the rewards in case he does.

So how does that help her if/when Romney gets gunned out of the sky by the Media-'Rat Liar Axis next fall?

That's like being the first-string shortstop on the last-place team in the American League. (Which will probably be the Astros next fall. They can't even win an argument about staying in their own league.)

I don't think Ann wins much by deliberately p.o.'ing a bunch of conservatives who have demonstrated their elephantine memories about people who stabbed them in the back.

”The choice is between a second class fireman and a first class arsonist.”

That’s awesome.

First time I’ve seen that quote.

Uh, no; we can't.

To say that he SEEMS better would be closer to the truth.

What did we KNOW what OBAMA would have brought us; 4 years ago??

Change that line to:

Did we know what OBAMA would bring us us; 4 years ago??

No.

Romney is a dyed-in-the-wool MORMON; who is convinced (some might say DECEIVED) that Thomas Monson is a Prophet of GOD.

I would guess that he ALSO believes that Joseph Smith; founder of his chosen religion; was one, too.

...the presidential campaign of Mormon Church founder Joseph Smith in 1844: “Challenging Democrat James Polk and Whig Henry Clay, Smith prophesied that if the U.S. Congress did not accede to his demands that ‘they shall be broken up as a government and God shall damn them.’

Smith viewed capturing the presidency as part of the mission of the church.

Would we see a LOT more rainbows; if we elected an openly GAY President?

Would we see a LOT more mosques; if we elected a fervent believer in ISLAM to the Presidency?

Would we hear a lot more bluegrass; if we elected Larry the Cable Guy to be President?

Would we see a LOT more duos on the streets; if we elected a firm believer in MORMONism as President?
