President Barack Obama wants to pierce what he is calling the electronic curtain shrouding the Iranian people in totalitarianism by inviting them to make contact through Americas virtual Tehran embassy.
The American president pierced the electronic curtain by recently sending an online Internet video message to the Iranian people, letting them know the United States supports their freedom and wants to open a dialogue with them about Americas future relationship with a free Iran.
The Iranian government jams satellite signals to shut down television and radio broadcasts. It censors the Internet to control what the Iranian people can see and say, the President said. The regime monitors computers and cell phones for the sole purpose of protecting its own power. I want the Iranian people to know that America seeks a dialogue to hear your views and understand your aspirations.
Stephanie Kennedy of the Australian Broadcasting Company reported on radio this morning that to facilitate a dialogue between the Iranian people and the U.S., Obama is unveiling new measures to make it easier for US software companies to market chat and social network programs in Iran.
Kennedy specifically reported, The US also wants Iranians to have better access to its Virtual US Embassy that it set up last December to communicate with the people of Iran through Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

Suuuuuure he does.....like the pipeline he had nothing to do with.
Another year of Obama, and Iran will be more free than us!!
Zero just wants to know how Imadinnerjacket and the ayatollahs do this....so he can have the FCC do it with "net neutrality," "the fairness doctrine," and the like. These are the "views" and "aspirations" he shares.
Will the virtual president be facing the East Room of the White House and saying Muslim prayers with them five times a day?
For the first time that I know of in our country we firmly established the “doctrine of preemption” to stop Saddam Hussein from attacking us with “weapons on mass destruction”. Of course that turned out to be a pretext and not a bona fide reason and we all know that now after 4000 dead Americans and 32,000 maimed and wounded plus $1 trillion in wasted printed money. But the doctrine was firmly established and it is now our doctrine. Never have I seen a greater reason for a preemptive strike as now allows Iran to boldly attack Israel. Everyday there are hollow threats of Israels pending attacks on Iran . They are trying to get America to go with them and furnish “bunker Buster “ bombs so they can bomb and attack a sovereign country in total violation of international law. But to heck with international law!! Iran now has the “ Doctrine of Preemption” in the face of of a pending and repeated threat of attack by Israel. Well, that’s what you get when you start preemptively striking people. I’m still lost on Libya!! What was the threat to us on that one? What Doctrine was that? By the way Libya is a total and complete disaster now run by 8 militias aligned with Sharia law!! You cant make this stuff up!!
Newbie, did you just grop in from DU?
You need to do a lot more reading on the past 30yrs in Iran.

Iranian dissidents are seeing how much help & support the Syrian dissidents are getting.
Our FIRST MUSLIM PRESIDENT is happy that Libya is going radical Muslim. That is why he illegally attacked Libya.
Obama knows Americans are fools that can't figure anything out by themselves.
Thanks Nachum.
The Iranian people don’t need our “support” on Facebook and Twitter. They needed our support when they were being slaughtered in the streets by Obama’s Muslim brothers.
The fact that so many Americans are still fooled by this flim flam artist doesn’t bode well for our nation’s future.
RuPaul, is that you?
I’m thinking he’s more likely from the DailyPaul than DU.
Talking freaking pre-emption on Iran? There’s no pre-emption against an enemy that’s declared war AND committed acts of war against both Israel and the US :S
Iran is like the 5’4” drunk in the bar trying to pick a fight with the biggest dude to impress his girlfriend. Sure, the big guy tries to ignore him, but if he ends up knocking the midget’s teeth out, nobody can blame him.

The content of the article at the link was changed in the last few days. According to the “Update” it was because “An original version of the story included quotes about how people in Iran are accessing social media sites online. Those quotes have since been removed to protect the identity of the source. The update has not changed the integrity of the story.”
>>>”Iranians continue to get around the system by using proxy servers to avoid the ban. The U.S. has been providing a server to allow Iranian citizens access blocked pages since 2003.”<<<
The original article also said that proxy servers used by the average Iranian to access facebook, twitters and other social media online are believed to be controlled by the Mullahs’ Regime itself. Because just before a major (usually political) event such as elections, even the proxy servers do Not work, and it all goes dark in cyberspace in Iran!
