In Trayvon Martin shooting, background of George Zimmerman can confound, confuse (expelled from CC)
Tampa Bay - St. Petersburg Times ^ | March 24, 2012

..."[George] Zimmerman's life was not without difficulties. In 2001, when he was 17 or 18, he was the victim of a minor criminal assault, said Manassas police Sgt. Eddie Rivera. The city's computer records do not provide details of the crime.

In school, Zimmerman hinted at ambitions in the business world. He joined a Future Business Leaders of America club. And in his senior yearbook, he wrote: "I'm going to Florida to work with my godfather who just bought a $1 million business."

In Sanford, Zimmerman shifted his plans, with hopes of becoming a law enforcement officer. NPR reported that he had taken a 14-week class at the Seminole County Sheriff's Office, and he was enrolled at Seminole State College until the school kicked him out this week, citing safety concerns.

He became the self-appointed protector of the streets around his home, although his neighborhood watch organization was not officially registered. Over the past eight years, he called the Police Department at least 46 times with reports of various sightings. In 2005, according to police records obtained by the Orlando Sentinel and other media, Zimmerman was twice accused of either criminal misconduct or violence. He had a concealed-weapon permit and had a black Kel-Tec semiautomatic handgun and a holster the night Martin died.....

-- Basically, Zimmerman got out of his car, accosted Trayvon, Trayvon attacked him, and Zimmerman shot him in self defense. --

There is evidence that adds a couple more steps in there. Zimmerman accosted Trayvon, then lost sight of Trayvon. Zimmerman was returning to his vehicle when Trayvon approached Zimmerman to attack him, and did attack him. Zimmerman was calling for help (heard on 911 tapes), so the beating went on for some time before a firearm was discharged.

-- Zimmerman is an idiot and if he does get the murder sentence it's not like I would weep for him. --

More American justice. We live in a banana republic.

“Indeed—But you’ll recall that Jewell was ultimately found to be innocent.I half-suspect the same outcome in this incident.”

And the arrestors of Rodney King were also found innocent (in the first trial).

Let’s see. Zimmerman gets change of venue, Tampa is just 80 miles away, if we can just time the trial and aquittal for late August in Tampa...

I think its the case of a sad loser, getting himself into a situation that he could not handle. Has some delusions about himself. Look, I could go on and on about Zimmerman his flaws, but the bottom line is, he probably did not commit any crime, any wrong he did do was was motivated by stupidity, no racism, and the liberals establisment (including MSM) is going to milk this for all its worth, and then some.

Its a sad, sad thing, made worse by the politics.

Obama: 'If I had a son, he'd look like Trayvon'

"..He was a student at Seminole State College, but the college said Thursday that it had "taken the unusual but necessary step this week to withdraw" Zimmerman from enrollment. It cited the high-profile nature of the controversy and said the decision was based on concern for the safety of Zimmerman and the students on campus..."

Sad loser? I guess he and his wife mentoring kids, having a healthy church life, attending college to better himself, taking an interest in the crime going on in his neighborhood, all this make him a sad loser?

I see a lot of this deputy dog bull, overzealous, etc on this board, and my guess is most of these are the same people who either have been on the receiving end of someone "ratting" them out for criminal behavior or are to scared to call something in when they see it go down in their neighborhood, yet decry the way that their neighborhood is going downhill. (Please notice, I said MOST)

“Zimmerman had fantasies of police grandeur and did not know what he was doing. Trayvon was a completely innocent kid. Zimmerman was following Trayvon which scared Trayvon. Even though all of this is true and heart breaking, it doesn't change the fact that Trayvon probably made the first physically aggressive move.”

Jump to conclusions based on media hysteria much?

“Trayvon was a completely innocent kid.”

Google and FreeRepublic.com are your friends, and had you relied on them, ‘specially FR, you would have known Tray-whatever had been kicked out of school, was on the way to his father’s home for a father/son talk about his behavior, and you would have seen the facebook pics of the deceased in his ‘gangsta mode’.

I am sorry for his parents, because they probably tried to raise his so that he turned out different. But, the ‘black culture’/’gangsta culture’ claimed another victim.

Junior GangstaBoy deserves little sympathy, IMHO. He brought his own death upon himself by attacking Zimmerman and got even more than “Epic Beard Man” gave his attacker.

The parents do have my sympathy.

Yep, after the uproar over the shooting, the CC said they couldn’t assure his or other students’ safety with him attending.

Since there seems to be a lot of speculating going on, I wonder if Martin had a wallet on him? Does the 7/11 have surveillance cameras? Did he pay for the Skittles? Just wondering if there might be a reason he felt compelled to beat down Zimmerman.

I was thinking that too. Plus marks on his knuckles. I asked on another thread if that would be a matter of public record. I would think the “impartial” media would be lining up the FOIA requests....

CBS is reporting the “racial” tension is between the community and the police. I guess the media is scrambling to rewrite their story since Mr Zimmerman does not particularly look German. Tsk.

I doubt seriously if Zimmerman followed the youth because he was black.

Have you not read any of the stories about the demographics of that neighborhood?

A large percentage of the residents were black. There had to be something more than that.

Beware of condemning anyone to death simply based on the fact that you consider them an idiot.

You might be next.

They’ve already tried to portry Zimmerman as a zealot making 40 phone calls to the police. That amounted to about 4 to 5 phone calls a year. It was not clarified that this was over a period of several years.

This incident gets more curious as each day goes by. Why does the Obama Campaign think race riots during an election year would be to their advantage? Obama already has a lock on the black vote and nothing could change that, but race riots could cause white and Hispanic voters to turn away from Obama in November, and Chicago mob led political campaigns seldom make mistakes like that.

Soooo, shortly after the Grand Jury meets on April 10, Zimmerman is found guiltless, the Sanford Police Department is determined not to be a bunch of incompetent racists, Obama and Zimmerman meet in the Rose Garden for a beer, the MSM blames the whole incident on Conservative Republicans attempting to besmirch and denigrate the Hispanic Community, and Obama’s poll numbers go through the roof.

Liberals, Socialists, Communists, and other assorted criminals are so predictable.
