An Innocent Boy Is Dead And The Media Played Us (updated!)

It’s important to mention facts about this case, not to blame Trayvon in any way, but to show how we are all being played by the media.

The media went with the meme that a white guy had shot Trayvon. That was untrue. He was Hispanic. The media kept using the term “gated community,” giving the impression that it was a white neighborhood, since the crime watch captain Zimmerman was “white,” we all assumed that. Not true. The neighborhood was only half white, the other half non-white (I am assuming black and Hispanic). It was not the lush lawns of a “gated community” like the media would have you believe, it was an apartment complex that had been victim to a bunch of robberies recently.

The witness that the police interviewed at the time of the shooting said that George Zimmerman was on the ground with Trayvon on top of him hitting him. Zimmerman did have grass stains on his back and his face his bleeding when the police get there. Now, who could blame Trayvon for attacking Zimmerman? Here was this guy following him, for all he knew, to rob and hurt him. So, it doesn’t change the story really to point out that fact, but most of the media ignored this part because it didn’t make the story juicy enough. Police played the 9-11 tape to Trayvon’s father and the father tells police that it is not his son screaming in the background. I can’t tell you how upset so many were to hear that tape and imagine it was Trayvon screaming, but it wasn’t. But heaven forbid the media correct that. Again, it just made the story juicer.

Alma, I think that Zimmerman is completely responsible for setting up what happened. If he had never gotten out of his truck, there would have been no fight and no shooting. But that doesn't make him a murderer.
I can't blame Martin for feeling stalked (my word) and feeling that he needed to protect himself. A lot of the men at this very site might do the same thing if they were followed by a car for some distance, and then the driver stopped and got out-- particularly if there were a gun showing in his waistband (don't know if this is true, or not). This is what Trayvon appears to have done-- attacked Zimmerman. What is Zimmerman supposed to do (in this situation that he created)? Allow his brains to be smashed out?
It's a miserable situation.
You say Zimmerman is a murderer. What facts that you know that serve to remove all doubt from your mind that Zimmerman is guilty of murder? It's for the good of all (you and me and everyone) that we rely on facts and do not judge according to our feelings and emotions.

But do you know, for certain, that Trayvon saw Zimmerman’s gun? I believe Zimmerman said the gun was tucked in his waistband. Was it hidden under Z’s shirt, or was it showing?

Couldn’t agree with you more. Didn’t used to be this way. (I lurked prior to joining in 2001.)

...a kid got murdered.

An "innocent" kid does not attack someone from behind because he feels "dissed". Zimmerman "deserved" to be assaulted, but had no right to self defense? Sorry, that doesn't play.

Where do you get that Martin felt “dissed.” I’d say that he more likely felt like he was being followed both by vehicle and on foot by Zimmerman. Maybe he didn’t feel safe? After all, he was only armed with Skittles and bottled tea.

Mind reading.

You are both (somewhat) correct; I can’t know how Martin felt, any more than the race baiters can know that Zimmerman had racist thoughts. But if you analyze the thug culture, being “dissed” is a frequent cause of violent behavior. My assumption, could be wrong (wouldn’t be the first time) or could be right.

Maybe he should have gone home. I know I would.

I believe that’s where he was walking— home, but a guy who’d been following in his truck got out and started walking after him— with a gun. (Don’t know whether the gun was visible, or not.)

***and the discharge of his weapon was a last resort***

Now that right there is some useful idiot double speak!

How about “and the killing of Trayvon Martin was his last resort”?? Guess he never heard of a warning shot in the air.

****Zimmerman had a broken nose and a gash on the back of his head.***

While Martin only has a fatal bullet wound in his chest.

The guy lost him for five minutes and was walking back to his truck. All the kid had to do was continue home.

Has the concept of self-defense totally escaped you? Should Zimmerman have let Trayvon continue to beat him, even if it killed him? It may turn out that this was not a self defense case, but certainly bare hands can kill.

He had him on the ground pounding him. If he didn’t see it, he might well have encountered it with one of his blows.

Yeah, Martin should have been allowed one free beat-down.

And along with that, if I was walking along chatting with my friend and some scary guy was following me, I would hang up the chat call and dial 911.

Where is Martin’s 911 call?

I just did a search of the page, and there’s nothing about “five minutes” or “5 minutes” in any comment but yours.
