There’s more to it than that.
A very very old pugilist’s trick...
if you need to drop a weight class, or if you are over your boxing weight, eat a hershey bar before every workout. It is like a drug that makes you burn more calories during physical exertion. Its like a milder version of cocaine.
There are a few substances that have some curious effects on people and animals. Theobromine, capsaicin, cocaine, caffeine, and ginseng.
Theobromine is highly addictive and highly pleasurable in dogs and causes them to have increased energy. It can cause them to have a heart attack if enough is eaten. You should not allow a dog to eat any of it. It is to a dog like snorting coke is to a human.
Capsaicin is a performance enhancement in horses and also causes them to feel no pain. It is not known if it is pleasurable to them...at least it is not known by me. It is actually illegal to give a horse capsaicin.
Both theobromine and capsaicin have similar but muted effects in humans as they do in dogs and horses. I’ve never tried it but I’m told if you add both theobromine and capsaicin to a hot tea or coffee drink it is a heluva pick-me-up.
Is capsaicin the chemical in spicy foods?
I've got some baking chocolate and some pepper flakes. I'll have to give it a try.
