Democratic lawmakers on Capitol Hill called the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin a "murder" and the result of racial profiling, as they hosted the black teen's parents at a high-profile briefing Tuesday.
"I tell my son, you have to be careful (wearing) a hoodie," Rep. Hank Johnson, a Georgia Democrat who is black, said. "Trayvon was murdered for walking while black in a gated community."
Martin's parents also spoke at the House Judiciary Committee briefing on hate crimes and racial profiling. Organized by House Democrats, the briefing brought the heated national debate over Martin's death and the handling of the shooter to the halls of Congress for the first time. ....
Sybrina Fulton, mother of the late teen, and father Tracy Martin arrived shortly after the briefing began at 3 p.m. and received a small applause.
"I'd like to say thank you for the support," Fulton said. "Trayvon was our son. Trayvon was your son."
Rep. John Conyers, D-Michigan, also called for a moment of silence for Martin, 17, who was fatally shot by a neighborhood watch volunteer Feb.. 26 in suburban Orlando....
Family members and others have demanded Zimmerman's arrest, saying the teen was the victim of racial profiling. Zimmerman is Hispanic, with white ancestry.
The briefing was organized by Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas, and other Democrats. Among those on the witness list were Robert “Bobby” Parker, retired director of the Miami-Dade Police Department, and Albert E. Dodson Jr., chairman of 100 Black Men of American.
“Travon was murdered,” Rep. Fredericka Wilson, D-Fla., said at the briefing. “Racial profiling and lax gun laws all contributed to this tragedy.”
Wilson, who represents the Miami area in which Martin went to school, said after the briefing, “Trayvon was hunted down like a rabid dog, shot down in the street.

The Dem maneuvering is quite calculated to formant animosity leading to more generalized violence. IMO, one goal is to mobilize black turnout in November. It may also be thought that this will also mobilize white guilt to the polls. The Dems are getting concerned the white guilt vote that was so important in 08 won't be in their court to the extent they need it.
This is exactly what the Dems should not be doing.
This will just result in a huge backlash, especially now that all of Trayvon’s “protesters” are looting Walgreens and such. The Democrat party are proving definitively that the Democrat party is the party of racial division, and WE need to call them on that.
Remember Rodney King? Tawana Brawley? Crystal Mangum? The Dems will make up a narrative to fit their view of a horrific racist world in which no one is treated fairly while in reality the majority of American from every color will help out any other American, regardless of color.
It pains me to see America portrayed in such a way. I want the America I grew up in back and I want it now.

You are too high. Conyers is a wiley old communist but most of the others are just knee-jerk blacks who cannot think for themselves. This is why there has been so little real progress in creating a sane, rational national black leadership that whites and hispanics can respect and work with.
There is no Whitney Young, the late leader of the Urban League, who was widely respected by all groups, and who spoke of moderation and joint efforts for social betterment.
Most blacks in Congress are just plain racists and ignorant of what is going on in the country. They promote racism and hatred instead of working against both. They will get re-elected time after time because the majority their constituents are mostly undereducated, easily bought off by promises and welfare programs, and are led by sheep to the Democratic Party plantation by their new black masters.
The decent, concerned black citizen in these areas don’t stand a chance in hell of changing those brainwashed minds, which is why there are very few black entrepreneurs in traditional middle-class businesses (the exceptions are those in the laundry/dry cleaning business, shoe repair stores, etc. ). Almost none own hardware stores, computer/printing stores, upper-end fashion stores, etc.
This is not to knock those who own carry-out shops, restaurants, cleaning services, landscapping, painting, etc. businesses, but the lack of uppder middle class businesses in many urban black areas prevents the development of a solid middle class population that not only understands the issues of running a larger business, but also the related issues of tax bases, better school management, community-police cooperative efforts, etc.
If you own something, you usually take an interest in it.
The unfortunate issue is that the moderate black population is either non-political, afraid to get involved for fear of being called an Uncle Tom, or not politically educated enough to oust the old-line black political machines and families that have dominated too many black areas, including Baltimore, DC, and Prince Georges County, as well as smaller cities (Phila, E. St. Louis, Cleveland, Detroit, Chicago (a black-white coalition of crooks), some of NYC, and Houston, among others.
Only when the general black population can break the mental plantation chains that the Democrats and their black slave-masters have imposed on them, will this lemming-like “black solidarity” behavior start to fall apart, thus freeing up the thinking blacks to start cleaning up their own neighborhoods.
I wish them well because they are going to need all the support decent and concerned whites and hispanics can lend them. The Democratic Part and the Congressional Black Caucus are addicting drugs which have held their people back for generations. Maybe 2012 will start the unravelling of this addicting relationship and lead to the betterment of all involved.

I sympathize with the parents on the loss of their child. However, to immediately try to merchandize his death is beyond the pale.
Also of note, Zimmerman, over the course of years and many instances of doing his NW duties,
apparently never had a problem until Martin showed up.

Correct, but do you really believe this can -ever- change?
If anything, as the years pass, blacks seem to become more and more “polarized” and “anti-white” (insofar as they reject a society that they believe is based on “white values”).
This problem grows worse each year, for each year the black population is comprised of an ever-increasing number of individuals born to dysfunctional homes as their illegitimacy rate soars. For the majority of blacks, there will soon be no experience with or even knowledge of a family structure that resembles one of traditional America.

That has almost zero to do with it. Again, there can be no movement towards the middle class when for many blacks, there simply isn’t a family structure or a culture that would prepare them for a middle class, or even a lower-working class. The culture that they embrace not only prevents this, but openly antagonizes those who would embrace such values or efforts.

Again, what evidence have you seen in the last 30-40 years that would indicate movement in that direction?

I only hope that this clown gets lots of television coverage on his local tv news. This might shock a lot of yokels who have still not gotten the message that the democrats are not their friends.
