Rick Tyler: I believe Gingrich will go to Tampa (It's not over by any means, cheer up!)
CBS News ^ | March 28, 2012 | Lucy Madison

(CBS News) Just hours before Newt Gingrich confirmed to reporters that he is so low on funds that he will be laying off a third of his staff, Rick Tyler, a senior adviser at the pro-Gingrich super PAC Winning Our Future, said he thinks the candidate will go "all the way to the convention" - and that the super PAC will be there for him when he does.....

Tyler, in an appearance on "Face to Face" taped on Tuesday, told host Bob Schieffer nothing short of an "extraordinary circumstance" would prevent his candidate from taking his candidacy to Tampa.....

"He says he's going to the convention, unless there's some extraordinary circumstance, I believe that he'll go to the convention," Tyler said. "The super PAC serves Newt so I think that, we've all said we're going to serve Newt. And if Newt wants to stay all the way to the convention, we're going to be there.".....

"If Mitt Romney does not arrive in Tampa with the requisite number of delegates, I suspect there will be an initial vote and if he were to fail that vote I don't think there'd be a lot of support for him on the second or subsequent votes, and therefore it would be a race between Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum and Ron Paul," said Tyler. "And in that situation I can imagine that a Newt Gingrich could emerge." ......

I’d go with Newt any day over Romney.

I think this will be good for the “anybody but Romney crowd” (which I a part of). There is NO WAY Romney will pick up Newt’s voters. No way. If Rick can take some delegates from Romney, it will serve both of them and assure a brokered convention with no clear leader. It is a good strategy for both. I am so hoping that it works!

Romney must be panicking. His "scorched earth" campaign was supposed to get him all the delegates he needed by now. Now he has to consider asking delegates for their support AFTER he has carpet bombed their candidate. Definitely not the way to make friends! He probably thinks he can just open his checkbook and buy all the delegates he needs.

I’m with Newt, we’re going to send him more money. I have 80+ Newt 2012 twice used yard signs in my truck and I’m making arrangements now to send them to Arkansas and hopefully on to Texas.

That’s great! Don’t underestimate yard signs...when Newt campaigned in Florida, the entire state was covered with Romney signs, and when I went to vote, my polling place was a thicket of Romney signs. It may sound silly, but people are influenced by this, and if they never see a candidate’s signs, the candidate slips out of their mind and the one with the most signs looks inevitable.

The simple minds running government is beyond belief. Without the intelligence of Newt we are doomed. How people can elect these ignorant uneducated fools is beyond me.

I still believe he will be nominated.

I also believe he will be nominated, and I brought some hard thinking to that conclusion. I don't believe in lost causes or waste of time.

I have believed for a long time that the campaign was not committed to Newt's best interest. Someone tried to point that out to some at very high levels, and was quickly tossed.

There was a leadership conference call yesterday, and they are simply asking people to step, anoint themselves "Newt's campaign manager" and run their own little neighborhood Newt campaign. x 10 x 10 x 10... infinity.

I am going to tampa, and I fully expect Newt will be there, also.

Stay strong. We can do this!

We are all for Newt. We truly believe if he’s given a chance, he could be the best president ever. He might not lower the sea levels, but he will make Main St. look like America again.

All that we have to do (focus), is to refuse Romney; we don’t have to accept him and his establishment posse. The media wants a Romney/Obama ticket for the general. That tells you all that you need to know. They know Romney is disliked by the base. Romney has not even been through the vetting process by the democrats. The dems crucified Newt for 4 weeks by ABC and Drudge (all all over the cable shows)Newt didn’t just win due to his debates; he won since people saw he could take on the media and Obama’s administration with policy ideas at the same time.

I want a contested convention, so, we can reject Romney-if we can do that, we have won. Keep voting for Newt and Rick. Some of you voters, need to vote for Newt- get your research done vs. the spin about the Speaker. Sarah Palin would never have told us to vote for him if she thought he could not do the job. She was making phone calls for him in LA. She has said, rage against the machine( her and Newt are the only ones saying that) Newt sure is in a tough spot-all of Obama’s media against him. Sarah will be at the convention. We, have the power to turn this upside down and put the media in their place. (Go, Newt!) You have to tell your family and friends, to not give up, they have power.

Totally agree!
If all the coming conservative states like Kentucky hand Romney a blown-out defeat by 2:1 ratio, similar to LA, Newt will have a chance. Republican delegates will not vote for a candidate rejected by his own party.

I can see Newt/Santorum ticket, already written in the star.

I too will stand with Mr. Newt until the end. Additionally, I believe that even Romney's delegates would like to find a way out of even their first ballot vote. I also think Santorum will eventually crash and burn through his own ignorance and foot and mouth disease.

I did not realize Sarah made calls for him in Louisiana. That Sarah, she is quite a lady. If she won't give up on Mr. Newt, neither will I. I venture to believe that most of us here at FreeRepublic will also not give up on him.

I will donate again within a few days. I still think the investment is worth it, and pray the eyes of WE THE PEOPLE will be open to Mr. Newt when the time comes.
