President Obama's standing in a trio of battleground states is improving, while GOP frontrunner Mitt Romney is struggling on the key test of favorability, two new polls show.

Quinnipiac University polled hypothetical general election matchups in the key general election states of Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania. In Florida, Obama leads Romney 49-42%; in Ohio, the lead is 47-41%. Pennsylvania is a closer battle, with Obama's 45-42% lead roughly equaling the margin of error.

Those three states account for 67 electoral votes toward the 270 a candidate needs to garner to win the election. Since 1960, no candidate has won the White House without winning two of those three key states.

Economy improving stories remind me of the Bugs Bunny cartoons where a plane is heading for the ground to crash and is saved at the last minute by running out of gas.

Economy improving no one left to layoff

Economy improving everyone is on welfare

Economy improving food stamp office hires greeter

Economy improving in Sanford Florida (gun sales through the roof)

According to the White House Insider Obama’s internal polling indicates he’s down 10 points from these external polls.

Other polls that are more credible have said that an improving economy will not help Obama because voters believe it is improving depsite Obama, not because of Obama — so they believe Obama in the White House will continue to hold them back. Quinnipiac, of course, is always tilted to the left.

I just put $40 in my car and got less then a half tank a gas. Then I went to the grocery store and spent $85 on almost nothing. I don't know how this economy is going to recover when people are paying so much more for necessities like food and gas.

Whew! Where do you live anyway? California?

Here our commodities aren’t too bad (Milk $2.50-$3.50, Ground Beef $2.89, gas $ 4.09), but the utilities have gone up quite a bit.

What entertainment? Lawn service? ROFL We ARE the lawn service.

North Georgia. Those prices were from my last trip to Walmart, although the higher milk price is Mayfield whole milk.

I also cut my own grass but I do use TRUGREEN for weed control. NONE of the other homes around me in this subdivision do anything about weeds except one. Their spores/seeds are like the illegal Mexicans - too many for me to control ergo TRUGREEN.

As for the entertainment, I have Netflix , OTA and DIRECTV and will dump them when my upgrade runs out.

what recovery?....we are paying about $2 MORE per gallon of gas, you can't find beef, even cheap roasts for much less than $3/# in most places, health insurance way up,cost of travel way up....and we are still down something like 10,000,000 jobs aren't we?.....

liars and obama apologists.
