ESPN suppresses voting message to Nascar fans

Whether or not you are a fan of Nascar racing, the following video clip from FoxNews is worth looking at. Listen to the "get out the vote" message in this ad rejected by ESPN.

Do you believe that the denial of the advertisement to encourage Nascar fans to vote is a blatant attempt by the main stream media to suppress a message that would appeal strongly to a mostly conservative audience?

Not to worry. We don’t need no stinkin’ message. Many freepers are staying home anyway!

This stuff will all magically get better during Obama’s second term, right?

The further ESPN goes, the sicker of it I get. They really played up the LeBrone and his teams hoodie thing. Really played it up big time. I wish there was some other channel that could compete with them. But they are the Walmart of sports channels.

Except for the actual sports, I stopped watching them 10 years ago. I consider it a wise decision on my part.

From another, longer article ...

But it wasn't the commercial to which ESPN objected. Rosa Gatti, the Senior Vice President of Corporate Outreach at ESPN said, "We looked at Blake's website and do see the religious aspects of this, so those are the reasons." I'm sorry, what did you say? Did ESPN just say that because a driver is Christian and talks about his faith on his own website, his sponsor is not allowed to air a commercial on their network? Yes, yes they did.

Is anyone shocked by this?
ESPN has become mainstream media & no longer hide their bias.
I do not watch any of their so called “news” shows.

Back in the day, Coach Bobby Knight as then IU Basketball coach remarked that “we don’t need no gd ESPN” ! We still don’t need those pecker-heads today !

As an avid tennis player I watch the matches on ESPN & their coverage is good. But sometimes they get a little too PC for my taste.

I agree. I have come across the show Colin Cow-terd a couple of times and he always has a smart rear end comment re conservatives, republicans, etc. I quit watching them. I even quit trying to watch Tim Brando’s show on CBSsports on DirecTV. He got too big mouthed for me also. Plus he is a homer and I get sick of that stuff also.

There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with that ad. That ad couldn’t be more generic.

The liberals could run that on MSNBC and it would be fine. WTF?

Agreed Cherry... I am so sick and tired of many conservatives saying they will stay home this election. If they(some conservatives) truly believe that Obama is no different than Romney, they are equally as much a part of the problem as the Dem’s/Obamites.

You are so right!!!! I have no use for an Freeper malcontent that states they will sit on their hands in November and let Obama win over Romney. Get it straight, people, Mitt Romney is not John McCain, period!!! I again state that I would vote for a blind monkey, with one hand tied behind his back, before I would ever cast or vote for or......stay at home and let America destroyer Obama win a second term!!!

The good news is that these naysayers are just a tiny minority of the conservative movement. I have told them over and over again on this very site, that Newt Gingrich was going nowhere!!! And......I was 100% right!!! Pay no heed to these narrow minded fools!!!! Remember, folks, ABO, Anybody But Obama!!!!

I agree with you cherry. I'm getting more and more sick of that attitude by the day. For anyone who doesn't like that, Tough $%^. Anger is probably the only emotion you felt besides self pity in a long time.

Romney never was my first choice, but I know one damn thing...Obama is my last choice.

I'll be at the polls bright and early on election day and I'll vote for any swinging richard who isn't named Obama.

If you want to be there too, fine. If not, you lost your right to bitch about Obama for the next 4 years.

ESPN is owned by Disney.

Disney’s subsidiaries are run out of California. The sad fact is they do not understand anything outside of the la/NYC delusion.

I've got news for you my fellow FReeper. not a "tiny" minority. Look at the numbers and tell me who is going to vote for Romney. There are several KEY issues that will get out the Republican vote.

Abortion-Obama=Romney

Gun Control- Obama=Romney

Taxes- Obama=Romney

"Growing Government" Obama=Romney

Global Warming/Environmental scam Obama=Romney

Government "Solutions" Obama=Romney

"Education" funding by tax/fiat with federal control Obama=Romney

He gets the RINO vote and the democrat crossover "chaos" vote by union members, while Newt and Santorum get the split "majority". It's all a scam.

This is what we get with Republicans/Democrats and their career bureaucrats

I'm of the opinion that we LET THEM DESTROY every last bit of confidence in the federal government. It's a joke now, we just have to engrain it in the public that if you work for the federal government you are a scamming POS. I've got a 21,19,17 and 15 year old that go to the airport and absolutely HATE the TSA. They look at them and comment on their fat, ghetto, slouching guards and pathetic little displays of authority and despise them, post jokes, take photos and make comments about how they couldn't even make it as crossing guards for public schools. I encourage that and make sure that they tell their friends. I make sure that they look at the TSA, Post Office and police the same way. They're there to eat donuts, steal your money and retire by 55 or get disability like Congressman Stupak as a scam in their 40's.

I say have the enemy in front of you. Romney will sell us out, he's a Bill Clinton liberal without the blowj#bs and bimbos. At least with Obama and the dems in control, it's all on them and their quisling friends. I could care less about their base and what they do because I don't need the government to be successful or happy. My kids will outwork their competition, live below their means and don't rely on material objects for self validation. Saying all that, I'd rather have money than be broke and I really have never been "out of work". My kids are the same way since they've been 15-16 years of age. I tell them to show up 15 minutes early and sober and "you'll be ahead of 80% of the competition. "

I looked at the response from ESPN. It is just shocking to me. I dont know why I am so shocked, but I truly cant see how they can justify this with a straight face. I have liberal friends that say WTF to this!

Has anyone seen the latest Rock the Vote ad? They portray a tank driven by a skeleton sucking up running kids into a grinder and spitting out flag-covered coffins on the other end.

Watch, begins at 2:10 http://democracyday.com/history-of-voting-video.html

I was wondering about Rock the Vote. They were big several years ago, obviously promoting the left agenda. Funny how when the shoe is on the other foot, no one will tolerate it.

We need the FOX Sports network to step it up and provide competition!
