Girl, 12, beaten while neighbor films

A man filmed a group of girls attacking a 12-year-old girl in his neighbor's garden, and told Providence, Rhode Island, police he thought it was a prank.

Two of the girls have been charged with assault with a deadly weapon and conspiracy, and two others have been charged with simple assault and conspiracy, said Providence Police Sgt. Matthew Ryan.

The 12-year-old suffered two black eyes, a bruised nose and bite marks on her hands. Holly Gingerella, the girl's mother, said, "My daughter is doing OK. She doesn't look very good, but she's a strong child." She said her daughter has a shunt in her brain to aid with a medical problem, but the shunt was not damaged in the assault.

The man posted the video of the incident on YouTube, where he shows his face to the camera and describes the attack, "Kids are (expletive) sitting outside for like 20 minutes saying, 'Don't do this, don't do that. You gotta keep going, you gotta keep fighting.' They're like planning it so they can just record it." While he speaks, girls can be heard shouting in the background.

Indeed, the “single mother” should NOT be the “norm” in our society, but it is fast becoming that.

For sure? I thought if you saw something like this happening, you call 911 and try to stop it. Tell them people are watching and some one called the police.

He is probably worried about retribution - vandalism or something worse - from these “kids” if they knew he called cops or something.

Nowadays, if parents try to do their job disciplining their children, Protective Services will come down on them hard.

No mention of any fathers anywhere around. And certainly this could not have been white girls attacking a black girl, or Jesse and Al would be there already.

Why does this mother continue to keep her daughter in government schools? Take her out and homeschool her, if necessary. I don’t understand why people think it a normal part of childhood to be bullied and assaulted on a daily basis.

My then 12-year-old daughter tried the Children's Services threat on her mother one day. Her mother's response was:

"Go right ahead. Maybe you'll like your new home more than this one."

I would ask myself, Do I want to be sued and jailed over the victim, or the Aggressor.
In this case both. I wouldn't have filmed it either.

They should be tried as adults. Prison is the only way the beat down fad will stop. When the “children” (humans acting like rabid animals) see their pals carted off to adult prison, suddenly it won’t be so funny anymore.
