When he was shot, Trayvon Martin was not the baby-faced boy in the photo that has been on front pages across the country. And George Zimmerman wasn't the beefy-looking figure in the widely published mugshot.

Both photos are a few years old and no longer entirely accurate. Yet they may have helped shape initial public perceptions of the deadly shooting.

When you have such a lopsided visual comparison, it just stands to reason that people would rush to judgment," said Kenny Irby, who teaches visual journalism at the Poynter Institute, a journalism think tank in St. Petersburg, Fla.

The most widely seen picture of Martin, released by his family, was evidently taken a few years ago and shows a smiling, round-cheeked youngster in a red T-shirt. But at his death, Martin was 17 years old, around 6 feet tall and, according to his family's attorney, about 140 pounds.

That happened 24 hours after Sanford released security camera video showing suspect George Zimmerman walking into police headquarters with no obvious signs of injury.

Except for the large contusion on the back of his head from having it slammed into cement, as can be seen a few comments up thread. Nope, no bias here. BARF.

The police report said Martin was 6-0 160.

The police report is just an estimate, Martin wasn't carrying identification.

OTOH his mother was quoted as saying he was 6'3" tall.

Wonder when the parents started to get Promotional Professional Publicity advice and when. Subsequent articles show pictures provided by the parents of the twelve and younger Trayvon.

My guess is when the issue got on the White House / Media Matters radar and they decided to exploit it to gin up the base for the election.

Al Sharptonge was on yesterday saying all the new photos of Trayvon out now are fake. He even showed the one in the white tee shirt and gold teeth, said it wasn’t him.

Beyond all his lies, I think he really is too stupid to know what is obvious to everyone else.

EMT’s on the scene that night treated Zimmerman as attested to in the police report. EMT’s don't ‘treat’ someone if they are uninjured. The injury to the back of Zimmerman's head is clearly visible in the video and he reportedly was seen by his doctor the next day where his broken nose was confirmed. Sharpton and the Martin family lawyers scream that it's just not so but dems da facts.

From my obsessive reading, Martin’s ID from 2 years ago said (IIRC) 6 feet and 160 pounds. So in two years he most likely got a bit bigger.
