Bush Senior Defies Republican Stereotype, Buys Chevy Volt
AutoGuide.com ^ | March 31, 2012

Who would have thought it? Given the flack the Chevy Volt has received at Republican hands over the last few months, former Republican president George H. W. Bush dealt the Volt attackers a serious blow, deciding to purchase one of GM’s extended range electric cars.

The Volt, which has become a symbol of all that’s wrong with the Obama administration according to a number of conservatives, might finally be getting a break. In addition to Bush Sr.’s purchase of a Volt (for his son Neil), there’s growing sentiment among the right that the car might not be that bad after all.

Trying to stereo type conservatives out of fuel efficient cars is wrong, most of us live within our means, and some of us even drive small cars to do that.

Right. I try to save money and keep regular expenses down in any reasonable way I can. But even with a huge tax-payer subsidy, a Chevy Volt is an unimaginably stupid way to save money.

This is nothing but a politically correct, greenie gesture. Only someone with more money than he knows what do do with would do this.

The fact that people find this surprising is just testimony to the power of the MSM to push total lies.

Young Bush was incredibly environmentally aware and conservation minded. His ranch was what conservationists would like America to really be. It was only about 2000 sq feet, and ran on unique and green fuels. Gore on the other hand had a monster mansion that wasted energy like no tomorrow. That they are “surprised” the Bushes are like this means they just believe their own propaganda.

And the Bushes are really RINOs, anyway.

I can, but why would I want to say:

“I am a smug, utterly ignorant, condescending douche.”

No.

Personal irritant: A “flack” is a public relations pimp and hustler.

The word “flak” derives from the German words Flieger Abwehr Kanone = antiaircraft gun = antiaircraft fire = opposition to something. The correct word in this application for AutoGuide.com is “flak”.

Yes, I was addressing the stereo type of Conservatives being out just to waste gasoline, when we know about 50% of those in higher consumption vehicles are Democrats. Just look at that ebay motor listing for the President’s car when he took his choice, a Chrysler 300C with a Hemi V8,
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chrysler-300-Series-300C-BARACK-OBAMAS-CAR-2005-CHRYSLER-300C-leased-owned-driven-President-Obama-/120849425946?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item1c232fe61a

then from;

http://bottomline.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/01/27/10253056-obamas-chrysler-on-ebay-yours-for-1-million
Yeah, it’s got a Hemi in it. That’s probably what led aspiring presidential candidate Obama to ditch the muscle car in favor of a Ford Escape hybrid to shore up his green credentials back in 2008.

Nobody reads the story anymore.

One good reason for a poster to make make their point in the opening comment. We've got to get ideas across and not everyone has time to read every article.

“and has established a legacy that will endure for centuries.”

‘Snicker.’

It may prove to be true. NWO Skull and Bones boy from the Bohemian Grove successfully derailed the Reagan revolution and conservative progress for over a generation already.

Pathetic.

Any politician who gets on stage with the likes of Obama to promote anything is not a conservative in my book.

Bush (either the block (HW) or the chip (GW)), Romney, McCain, Graham, Nixon, Snowe, Collins, Brown - all have one thing in common: “compassionate conservatism” - the likes of which got us into this mess to begin with. George senior can go F himself!

Do you always hate and denigrate great Americans as viciously as this?...

If anything, I would say you are jealous, or you are hopelessly ignorant. The least you can do, is show some deserved respect for this great man, however, I think that there is no such ability anywhere within your hollow interior.

KMA and I promise I'll pick out any random d-bag Bush out of the pile and say something nice about him.

I agree with you.

Even though I don't agree with some of what the elder Bushes say/do, the general hatred toward GOP leadership does get vile at times.

And I am very greatful to the Bushes as wartime Presidents. They fought hard to keep us safe and that doesn't deserve the vitriol they get from both left and right.
