Ann Coulter’s “Novelty Candidate” Swipe at Sarah Palin

Mitt Romney supporter Ann Coulter appeared on the ABC News Sunday show, “This Week,” hosted by former Clintonite George Stephanopoulos. Asked about Romney’s potential vice presidential picks, she said this (while seated at a table with former green jobs czar Van Jones, who served under the Biggest Novelty Candidate of Them All, Barack Obama):

Ann Coulter:

“You can’t have a novelty candidate, I think. That would ring too much like Sarah Palin. I agree with George Will that it be good to have little tea party excitement, and the odds-on favorite, I mean, certainly the betting is on Marco Rubio, I think that would be a mistake.” But Coulter, who is a firm Mitt Romney supporter, said the GOP frontrunner needs a running mate who is tried and tested, she suggested Romney pick someone like New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie or Senate Minority Whip Jon Kyl, R-Ariz.”He’s been tested, he’s steady, he’s not frightening. He could certainly step into the job” Coulter said of Kyl.

Unbelievably, Coulter is under the continued delusion that Sarah Palin was the problem with the 2008 ticket and not McCain. Later in the show, when Van Jones floated former Bush Secretary of State Condoleezza Rices name for VP, Coulter snorted again: “Too much like Palin.”

Say what?

I really do think Coulter is getting close to Lonesome Rhodes in A FACE IN THE CROWD. The Andy Griffith character in that film ticked off his fan base and was told he might go on to some successes in his career but that it would never be the same as his earlier rocketing popularity.

Ann has upset us with her Log Cabin homosexual Republican apologetics and now she mocks us hayseeds by looking down her nose at Palin. She adores those “serious statesmen” Christie and Mitty that the TEA Party cannot stomach. Ann wants into the RINO Country Club and not a seat at the TEA Party. It is sad but true.

She might be on to something with Kyl. Depending on how things look he may be a good VP choice. If we get to the end of August and Obama looks to be in very good shape no up and coming young conservative is going to want to hitch their wagon to Romney. (In retrospect, Palin made a mistake there, although she had no way of knowing the economy was going to collapse in a few weeks, and being a Woman Gov from AK her prospects weren’t really high on the natl scene to begin with).

Kyl is retiring so he has no future to worry about. If Obama looks like a lock I could see him being persuaded by the party to take one for the team and run for two months and help preserve the optoins for folks like Rubio, Christie, Ryan, etc...

He has Congressional experience and knows people. He has foreign policy/natl sec exp. He comes off as moderate and not a flamethrower. I think seniors would be comfortable with him.

Keep your eyes peeled for him. I think him or Portman from OH are very likely choices.

If things look different and like Romney can actually win, I look for one of Rubio, Christie, or Ryan.

only Palin has taken the best shots from the media but keeps getting more popular.

Do you have any scientific poll to support that claim?

Even setting aside the fact that I want a conservative, Christie adds nothing to the ticket ideologically or geographically or Electoral-College-wise:

1. Ideology: Romney and Christie are both soaking wet: possibly good on some financial issues, but bad on others and terrible on conservative social issues.

2. Geography: Both are northeasterners.

3. Electoral votes: New Jersey won’t go GOP in a close race. If the GOP wins New Jersey, it won’t NEED New Jersey because that (GOP win) will only occur in a colossal blowout like Reagan in ‘84.

"... her envy of Palin's looks, handsome husband, family, and happiness ..."

Add to that Palin, who is not a professional writer, probably blew the mighty author Ann Coulter out of the water in book sales with her first two books. Now THAT had to be harder for Ann to take than all that other stuff.

There is obviously some caculation behind Anne going liberal/socialist. I don’t think liberals will be lining up to buy her books and she’s smart enough to do the math.

I think it is her gay agenda.

Funny, other than the demographically insignificant progressives at GOProud, the gay community can’t stand Ann. She has to be smart enough to know that the small percentage of gays in the Republican Party are like a fart in a hurricane compared to the impact of social conservatives, people who make or break elections.

i believe comparing attendance records with all other candidates would be enough

i’ve never seen another political type have mile long lines for a book signing... and that was florida

though i have seen plenty of video where the various candidates rented stadiums but only managed to fill the end zone

as for ‘scientific polls’... you still think they’re accurate and not meant to sway public opinion?? how quaint

Sarah has a good, gorgeous husband and a big family that supports her. She’s strong and smart and beautiful, all things Ann was supposed to be. Now she’s bitter as all heck and it’s coming out her ears.

BINGO!

I’d call Ann is bat-Sh*t crazy but Batman has that job already. I’ll just settle for crazy.

It's pretty obvious to me that she's suffering from something stronger than mere jealousy, or 'change of life' issues. The lady has gone completely into the looney zone, and can't find her way out.

She is quite literally going into a state of treason (betrayal after trust) to the very group she owes (and has always claimed) allegiance to. She's either losing her mind, or she truly has gone to the dark side.

Either way, she's been off my 'friends' list for a couple of years now, and I highly doubt that she'll ever win back my trust.

Yes, just another establishment Ivy Leaguer.

I’ve seen “A Face in the Crowd”, and the sooner she completes her nose dive, the better.

“It’s sad, and she’ll pay for it in the long run.”

Yes she will, along with a few others.

She was on Glenn Beck’s morning radio show a month or so ago, and the two of them were making fun of Sarah and giggling like a couple of 11-year-olds.

I kept wondering if they had been drinking because that’s the only excuse I could come up with that would account for their idiotic behavior. Shamefully embarrassing - although I believe the terminology would be lost on both of them.

When hasn’t Ann been an elitist northeast cocktail-partying RINO?

She’s always been that way. She has some conservative beliefs and just like Drudge and the rest, we served each other’s purpose . . . for awhile. But the marriage of conservatives and RINOy moderates has finally reached its inevitable divorce.

Who introduced her to the mainstream? Her good buddy Bill Maher. I remember when he had that ridiculous show and she was the lone bright spot. Figures they ended up dating.

Ann, it’s been fun, but we have real conservatives now.

Michael Savage has been always a long time communist , Berkely graduated , san francisco liberal who donated $5000 to liberal democrat jerry Brown.

His real name is Wiener and because says it is conservative to cash in on Rush ‘s success and make millions , people believe This Wiener is conservative like a majority of Americans believe the news media are really news people and not liberals who are not broadcasting news but liberal propaganda. The liberal reporters put on an act. So does Savage. His background and even things he says now shows he is a liberal.
