Gingrich to Romney: Pick Conservative Platform
NBC ^ | April 2, 2012 | Alex Moe

Posted on 04/02/2012 10:13:09 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

Newt Gingrich unveiled a new message to Mitt Romney Monday morning during a campaign stop in Maryland: if the former Massachusetts governor does become the Republican nominee, pick a conservative platform.

But speaking on the eve of three primaries that could potentially seal the Republican nomination in Romney’s favor, Gingrich vowed to only exit the race if a candidate gets the required delegates.

““I will be going to Tampa, Callista and I will both be going to Tampa, because we are going to fight for a conservative platform,“ Gingrich said. “He [Romney] has to win 1,144 uncontested delegates. At that point, the question is going to become, if he wants our support in the general election, let’s talk about the platform and it better be a solid, 21st century conservative platform based on sound principles that we can stick to.”

Gingrich, speaking to a couple of hundred people at a Ford dealership in western Maryland, noted that he took the recent Etch A Sketch comments from Romney’s communication director “very seriously” and worried that “clever” consultants would hinder a platform conducive to more conservative Republicans.

The former House Speaker also argues the former governor is being awarded too many delegates from Florida, Arizona, and Idaho because the states are supposed to be proportional by RNC rules.

Campaign spokesman R.C. Hammond tells NBC News that the campaign has sent letters to those states' Republican Parties to correct the errors.

.........One topic Gingrich loves to talk about -- the court system in America -- came up Monday morning, as well.

Perhaps in an appeal to the Tea Party attendees in the audience with “don’t tread on me” flags, Gingrich launched a new attack on Supreme Court Justice Ginsburg for her comments on the U.S. constitution.....

Newt does much better when he sticks to his usually positive message.

I regret he is not doing better, but he was fatally injured by Romney's Super PAC. He will soon be out, because all of his big financial support will likely pull out after tomorrow.

It's sad to see it happen.

If Newt happens to get a VP spot, can you imagine Newt going against Biden in a debate? I would pay good money to see that!

Although realistically, Obama might fire Biden and bring Hillary over for VP. If that happens, he will rip her as well, but the MSM will somehow prevent that vulnerable scenario.

It sure would be heaven on earth to see all of the political pain that he could do to Washington hehe..

( though, the best part, would be undoing the rhinos and radicals path they set the nation on) Thanks for posting it today.

Of course, you're absolutely right (as per norm) :) - but I am not taking my eyes of the prize - Newt and barack - and the debris and gnashing of teeth afterward... It's a dream worth holding onto...

GO NEWT!!

Have you heard anything about Newt and Sarah teaming up yet?

That would be a tough combination to beat.

“But I can tell you a couple of things. Despite six years of campaigning, $40 million dollars of his own money, millions raised from Wall Street — largely from people who got our tax money from the bailout — Governor Romney doesn’t have it locked down. And we have no obligation to back off and concede anything until he does.”....

Git 'em, Newt!!

I hope to see more of Newt, but it’s important to remember the movement is bigger than any one man and there are more battles to come. I think the biggest problem facing conservatives is the Republican Party (the establishment). They are completely hostile to conservatives.

Rush just quoted Ann Romney (from some appearance today) saying, "Maybe it's time to unzip the real Mitt."

They know he's falling flat on his face.

I am still salivating at the idea of a Gingerich/Obama debate!!!

Visualizing “O” as a puddle on the floor is helping me get through all this other campaign BS!!

And don't forget the best part - Day One!!

      Newt sanctimony biflex dweeb

          SUBSTANCE                                               TALKING POINTS

Newt Hits the Reset Button.

Day One will be epic, and then he’ll get really busy.

No one can say they don’t know what Newt will do after his inauguration.

He’s got big plans…

On January 20, 2013, within two hours of placing his family photos on the Resolute Desk,  President Gingrich will have signed an executive order to cashier all of the Obama czars.  Then, he’ll sign one to approve the oil pipeline from Canada to Houston.  By lunch, he’ll have moved the U.S. embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.  Next up would be re-instituting Ronald Reagan’s Mexico City policy, to forbid spending money to subsidize abortion overseas…

By the time ex-President Obama “lands in Chicago,” he aims to have repealed “40 percent of Obama’s government.”

Newt wants every Republican candidate to campaign with him on a pledge to hit the next Congress in a monster jam session that repeals the job-killing centralized corruption of ObamaCare, Dodd-Frank, and Sarbanes-Oxley by the time he’s sworn in…

And that's just an appetizer... Newt’s economic plans include:

Oh, and he won’t be bowing to any Saudi kings.

Newt has pledged to have a full list of his proposed executive orders and presidential findings published online by October, so that every voter will know exactly what they’re getting.

While Romney has been running for President for years, and Santorum has consistently supported increasing the size of government, and spending taxpayers' money, Newt has been planning and proposing solutions to rescue our country from the brink of disaster, and make America great again.

Newt Gingrich.

Substance, Not Talking Points.

Sarah is very strong in the Tea Party, and since, (Quite surprisingly) the TP actually favors Romney by about 54% to 46% in the latest TP survey, she may have held her full blown support for Newt for that reason.

That is a long stretch since that survey only hit those levels in the last 2 weeks. I would like to know more about it though.

Now is not time to give up, not if you truly believe in Newt, not if you believe we can still make a difference. The odds are against us, and the trail is long. NOW IS NO TIME TO GIVE UP...

Have you heard anything about Newt and Sarah teaming up yet? That would be a tough combination to beat.

That is, without any doubt, Obama's second-favorite GOP dream ticket. (The first would be Palin-Gingrich.)
