0bama's North American Union (NAU) Conference, Live Thread

Well, well well.. There he is. President Obama, Calderon and Harper; The leaders of U.S., Mexico and Canada standing together on the White House lawn talking about health care, "American gun trafficking to Mexico", etc..

What really struck me was Obama's comment in response to a question on Obamacare. Obama said, "We're confident this Law will be OVER---, uh, UPHELD". Freudian slip, perhaps or just a MAJOR GAFFE?? Then, Calderon went on to congratulate America for "following Mexico's lead on health care coverage for all", snicker snicker..

As usual, much discussion on "American gun trafficking to Mexico" with NO mention of Fast & Furious!

Calderon bragging about Mexico's superb healthcare system with free medical including cancer care and over 1000 new healthcare clinics... then why do his citizens risk their lives to sneak into the USA?

And Obama saying that the healthcare bill was passed by a majority of a democratically elected Congress and if it's overturned by unelected SCOTUS then it's judicial activism that Republicans always cry about (paraphrasing). I DESTEST THIS MAN!!!!

Not one media question about the Keystone pipeline. Talk about a managed press; and I wonder if Harper thought he should have had a sign saying “I am not a potted plant.”

Romney would have fit in nice with that group talking about National Healthcare.

Very hostile/threatening statement from the czar-in-chief:

President Barack Obama voiced confidence Monday that the Supreme Court will uphold his health care law in his first public remarks on the issue since the three days of oral arguments last week.

Obama suggested that the high court would be guilty of “judicial activism” if it overturned the law, and stressed that he believed the justices would see the individual mandate as an integral part of the law.

“We are confident that this will be upheld because it should be upheld,” Obama said at a joint news conference with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Mexican President Felipe Calderon.

President Obama preemptively slammed the Supreme Court as a bunch of "unelected group of people" who will have turned to "judicial activism or a lack of judicial restraint" if they decide to strike down his signature legislative achievement, the healthcare reform act.

Obama was speaking at a trilateral event with the Prime Minister of Canada and President of Mexico.
