City banishes Bibles during 'gay' fest

For over a decade, Brian Johnson has peaceably passed out Bibles during Minneapolis’ Twin Cities Pride Festival, but if he tries it again this year, he fears, he could be arrested.

Through some clever legal wrangling, Twin Cities Pride, the organizers of the annual festival celebrating homosexuality, have convinced the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board to allow them to exile anyone attempting to distribute Bibles or communicate unapproved messages at the event to a “no pride zone” far away from the festivities.

Now Johnson is filing a federal lawsuit against the Board, claiming it can’t banish First Amendment free speech rights to a 10′ x 10′ square off the beaten path, especially during a major public event in which organizers have a non-exclusive permit to use the park.

I would say this proves that "Free Speech" is only available to "selected few" and the rest of us need to sit down and be silent. So sad that the Word of God is being removed from our country! May God forgive us!

The city needs to be taken to court on this issue.

No, this only proves enough barely functional idiots are in positions to allow this to happen.

Think Mata Hari.

I thought people that would attend this rally are always telling everyone else that God accepts their lifestyle and many claim to be good Christians. So why would they care if somebody offered them a bible? hmmm...

Perhaps we are not sufficiently organized and fighting back on this kind of tyranny ourselves. Every decent person in the area ought to go out and hand out pamphlets and bibles.

They're not elected .. they're the equivelant of the embeds at the DMV, or SS office ... the welfare office, the clerks at the mayor's office, the governor's office ... etc.

THEY'RE the ones with the access and authority to present a program/event (whatever) to an official in such a way the official says, "Yeah, sure" and the deal is done.

The city can not ban Bibles. Queer day or not Queer Day, They can not do what they say.

If he actually has bibles to pass out he can go ahead.

I have authorized him to do so.

This is easy....Give out Bibles and go to jail. Our apostles were beaten for proclaiming the Gospel, yet they kept on preaching. Daniel was thrown into a Lion’s Den for proclaiming God’s Word. Civil disobedience is part of our walk with Christ.

Is there anyone here who would be interested in going to this event to pass out bibles?

The parks board has neither jurisdiction (IMHO) nor authority to prevent anyone from handing out anything. If the police prevented him from handing out bibles, then he’s got an issue.

This is easy....Get a spine, get proactive, and restore liberty to our country.

How many generations have people been piously speaking out going to jail for giving out Bibles? God wants us to be the head and not the tail. It's time to stand upon the promises of God and turn this country around.

Handing out Bibles at a LGBTQAA event is like yelling fire in a crowded theatre.

calling it a “no pride zone” is itself derrogatory. The equivalent of a 21st century stocks. (think colonial times)

This is particulary true with 1. a non exclusive use permit 22. inviting everyone and 3. no evidence whatsoever of riots.

The homosexuals just want government endorsement of their sexual recreation choices free of being offended by someone suggesting they may be wrong.

It does not matter that this is religious. It would be the same conclusion it it was a scientist handing out flyers that expose the “born that way” myth.

LGBTQAA? That's LGBTTIQQ2SA to you, you intolerant racist (probably).

(/sarc tag probably redundant, but anyway)
