I have known racists all my life and never once did any of them ever use the term “coon” which seems to be only mentioned in the movies and newspaper articles.

I prefer the term “Eric Holder’s people.”

I heard “coon” a number of times up north when I was a kid.

Plus about a dozen other words.

That was one of the first things that struck me about this. It’s a very antiquated term, first of all. I only remember hearing it in the 1950s or 60s from elderly bigots who were from the Northeast or the Midwest.

I have never ever heard it in the South, and it doesn’t seem very likely to me that somebody who lived in that part of Florida would use it (or even know it).

The “analysts” at the networks, having an extensive library of racist terms they are eagerly searching out, are probably the few people under the age of 70 who actually use the term.
