George Zimmerman’s Father Tells Hannity Trayvon Martin Followed And Attacked His Son

George Zimmerman‘s father is still in hiding after the national media firestorm that began when his son shot Florida teenager Trayvon Martin, but he spoke out tonight on Hannity, explaining behind a veil of anonymity his son’s side of the story and insisting Zimmerman acted in self-defense. Zimmerman appeared alongside his son’s lawyers, Craig Sonner and Hal Uhrig, and argued Zimmerman did not follow Martin and only shot after he found his life in imminent danger.

Host Sean Hannity asked the elder Zimmerman to relate the story of how his son ran into Trayvon Martin. “He had been texting his sister and said he was going to the grocery store,” Zimmerman narrated, “he saw somebody that did not live in the community wandering behind some town homes,” explaining that the town “has had a lot of problems with burglaries.” Zimmerman confirmed to Hannity that his son tutored minority children and had defended a minority child hit by a car in the neighborhood and accused Martin of following Zimmerman to a street corner. “Trayvon came from that area where the sidewalks meet, asked my son whether he had a problem… he said no, and Martin said, ‘well, you do now.’”

-- who is the lead investigator. Does he have an agenda? --

The lead investigator in the Zimmerman/Martin case was Chris Serino.

Whether or not he has a bias against Zimmerman, based on Zimmerman's advocacy in the Collison/War case is what the links, blockquotes, and speculation aim to inform.

At this point, I don't believe that Serino advocated to arrest Zimmerman on Feb 26/27. That claim first surfaced on March 27, via Matt Gutman of ABC. That claim is contradicted by earlier reports, directly attributed to Serino, where he found no evidence to contradict Zimmerman's story. There is a story from the mother of the 13 y/o witness, Brown, IIRC, where she claims Serino told her that he wanted to catch Zimmerman in a lie, and "read [racial stereotyping] between the lines."

-- No mention of Raimondo --

He's behind the desk, and the news stories attribute the "no arrest" decision of Collison to Raimondo.

I don't see Serino anywhere in the news accounts; I have not read the official Collison report.

He was NOT one of the officers investigated:

I believe you. But he is named in news accounts as nixing the on-scene arrest. Just saying, if you want to connect Serino to some animus based on the Collison case, the wider you cast your suspicion, the more likely you'll find a connection that involves Serino and/or Zimmerman.

Another claim is going to be that Raimondo nixed Zimmerman's arrest, just like he nixed Collison's, all out of racial bias.

I'm going to reveal the identity of the anonymous source. It is George Zimmerman's father.

IMO it’s all BS. Good cop/bad cop would not be possible if police were not allowed to stretch the story in order to glean more information. The premise “I’m on your side” can go a far way in getting someone to open up”

So an officer telling a person even remotely involved “read between the lines” is nothing more than a manipulation to see what that individual knows.

"another section the MSM conveniently forgot was that when the dispatcher told Zimmerman they didn’t need him to follow the suspect, he immediately replied “OK”, as though he was going to break off his involvement "

And that is further evidenced by wind noise from Zimmerman's phone that stops almost immediately after the operator saying that.

Also important to note that prior to that, the operator twice tells Zimmerman to "Just let us know if he does anything else". No wonder Zimmerman started to follow Martin.

Could be. He might be trying to put Brown at ease so she'll talk more. He might be tempting her to lie, etc. I'm sure he was looking for witnesses who could say the words heard during the fight, and he might have just been relating that if there's any issue coming from Zimmerman, it doesn't appear on the record (no witness heard any racial stereotyping from Zimmerman).

Anyway, I added that remark in an attempt to be thorough in disclosing what has been reported about Serino's attitude and remarks. He also said something to Tracy Martin on Feb 27 along the lines of trying to catch Zimmerman in a lie. So, here's Serino, telling Tracy that he's the lead investigator into Trayvon's death - of course he's going to try to give assurance to Tracy that he (Serino) isn't just accepting Zimmerman's story - he's paid to be a skeptic and rational thinker.

Exactly.
I’m on your side, relax, vague phrase that opens the person being interviewed to reveal information.

Remember that one of the fathers of the two who hammered the fifty year old was involved in a black racists group, maybe he just wanted to know Tracy Martin’s racial opinions and that was a way to start the conversation.

...accusing somebody of manslaughter (without any supporting evidence) as a means of "getting even" goes way too far. "

That it quite rational thinking. Possibly a little too generously rational. It may be that this detective(?) is a little jaded and bitter from his years on the force. I mean, we know that kind accusation is extreme, but to him....
Just sayin'.

He's going to have to sell his case first to a prosecutor, then, if there is a trial, to the jury. If he has ZERO evidence, do you think he's going to take advantage of the situation?

It'd be different if there was some evidence that contradicted Zimmerman's account. Serino has a reputation among his peers, the community, and the state (prosecuting) attorney. I don't think he'd hang his butt that far out over the line, using nothing but speculation void of evidence to support a charge of manslaughter.

I say "Free the Serino Affidavit!" - I think that document is another Matt Gutman fiction.

I have not seen any reports from Matt Gutman in a couple days. Hoping he’s been pulled off the story.

The lies are being shot down faster than he can manufacture them. Well, sort of shot down - the drive-by media is doing a darned good job of misinforming the public.

Things will stir up again when Corey renders her decision. Groundwork has been laid already, that she is in the police department's pocket and has racial bias herself.

Not knowing a thing about the man, I agree you’re probably right. Even if he has some axe to grind, it’s not worth ruining a career over.

Making some rather broad tailored assertions while interviewing witnesses is SOP.

So far everything supports Zimmerman’s account. His Attorneys sounded very convincing last night on Hannity.

Unfortunately the people who need to be informed probably don’t watch Hannity.

Hope they’re making a list of people to sue.

On a scale of 1-10, media attention on this story went from about an "8" early this week (the grainy video and the audio experts coming out to condemn Zimmerman), to about "1", "2" at the most, instantly.

The falsehoods are out there, and they'll keep working without any more pushing. The last "big" story was the NBC apology. Then all went quiet.

If they stop talking about it, there isn't any material to call them out on - and at the same time, the false story isn't losing any traction with the general public.

I could be way off base on this. Unlike the Martin camp, I am not getting the impression these guys are out for damages, no matter how well deserved.
