The flaky McDonald's worker who claimed she had one of the winning Mega Million Lottery tickets now says she lost the slip.
When asked by NBC News if she was going to ever to ask for her share of the dough, Mirlande Wilson replied, "If I find it (the ticket).”
The NBC reporter then asked if she had lost the ticket, to which the 37-year-old Baltimore woman replied, "I misplaced it."
She insisted she didn’t make up the story though.
“I did not make up no story to get no attention,” she told NBC.
The strange conversation is just the latest mind-boggling twist thrown by the supposed newly minted millionaire. Earlier this week, she called a press conference only to have her lawyer, Edward Smith Jr., ask for the journalists gathered to go away.
"(Wilson) would like all of you to go home," he told the bewildered crowd. "This needs to stop so she and her children can go back to a normal life."
He added he hadn't seen the winning ticket either and "cannot say with any certainty this ticket exists."
Wilson has also been sketchy in her tale of how she had a winning ticket for the record $656 million drawing in the first place.
She first said she bought the ticket at a 7-Eleven for herself, then said a co-worker purchased one for her while buying tickets for a group of McDonald's employees.
She has also claimed to have hidden the ticket at McDonald's — a claim her co-workers have said is dubious.
"She could not have hidden any ticket here," one employee told the Daily News this week. "She hasn't been back and she doesn't have any locker to hide it. She would not hide it in the bathroom or anything."

I believe she bought the ticket and has given it to someone she thinks she can trust so that that person will cash it for her. Good luck. I also suspect that Maryland will look closely at whoever turns in the ticket to see if there is any connection with any McDonald's employee.That's a good theory. She has a ticket that was purchased as part of a workplace lottery pool and now she's trying to keep it all for herself.

Well this can be confirmed by lottery officials. Where did she buy the ticket? Was there a winning ticket sold there?
In December a winning power ball jackpot was won by a PA resident who bought the ticket in MD and the name did not have to be released.

While I can see where a private person who won, would think this is great - as a taxpayer and a potential ticket-buyer (I live in UT, where we don't have legalized lotteries) - I think this is bad. "Gee, I wonder why everyone who is winning is a family member to a Democratic party leader .... golly, what a coincidence". In many states, they are not protected - to prevent corruption.
I tried to parse the sentence but the triple negative has me confused.
Maybe if I try one negative at a time, I can figure this out. Let's start with all positives:
I did make up a story to get attention. (So far, she would be admitting to being a liar.)
Now, let's make the first part negative:
I did not make up a story to get attention. (One negative and she's now saying that her story is the truth.)
Let's make the last part negative:
I did not make up a story to get no attention. (So, I guess you made up the story to get some attention. I guess.)
And now, the original gem:
I did not make up no story to get no attention. I give up. She's got to be telling the truth. Give her the money.
Well, these are multi-state lotteries so that would lessen the chance of favoritism. You also run the risk of the REAL winner going public (there is no law that the winner cannot go to the media.)
How do you verify the numbers without the ticket in hand?
I suppose if you selected the numbers yourself....
But, I still don’t believe her.
Under the circumstances, she would be negotiating a split with her co-workers.
She’ll be dead broke in 2 years whether she has $10M or $100M.
She’s too dumb to protect herself.
How does an unmarried woman with seven kids, working at McDonalds, afford the fancy fingernails?
This has already happened....A woman with a criminal record who tried to lie about losing a winning lotto ticket worth $162 Million.

Perhaps one of the ‘baby daddies’ stole the ticket and she is scared.
Her attorney surely has asked her about her immigration status, welfare benefits, boyfriends and, of course, the ‘pool problem’.
She was naive to declare that she ‘had won’....and has been advised to back-track.
Unless she signed the ticket on the back it is as good as a Bearer Bond and she has no claim to it whatsoever.
It was the last option.
