Charles Manson, now 77, gets new chance at parole
Q13Fox.com ^ | 4:09 p.m. PDT, April 5, 2012 | Charles Manson, now 77, gets new chance at parole Shelby Grad and Andrew Blankstein

LOS ANGELES—

This post has been corrected. See the note below.

After 11 failed bids for freedom, notorious killer Charles Manson, now 77, is up for parole later this month. The parole board rejected his bid in 2007, saying Manson [For the record, 9:42 a.m. April 5: An earlier version of this post incorrectly gave the killer's last name as Mason.] "continues to pose an unreasonable danger to others and may still bring harm to anyone he would come in contact with."

Manson refused to participate in that hearing, describing himself as a "prisoner of the political system." He also declined to participate in any psychological evaluations in 2007.

I wonder what ol’ Charlie looks like now that he’s pushing 80....?

He plans to tour with Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan.

His eyes have always looked crazy, but now they just look sad. Guess he’s had ample time for thought.

Excellent point, F.I.P.!

And good enough for me - true “Arab Spring” freedom will only be realized when imam’s shrunken heads are being sold
3 for $10 on street corners in Teheran, Cairo, Riyadh, etc.

Can’t happen soon enough for me.

What’s funny is everyone thinks of grandmothers as kindly old ladies, like their own grandmother. Yet they were young and slutty and violent and drunken and vicious once too.

Releasing him would probably be a death penalty.

Poor Charlie has it rough these days. A few years back I read that the prison population has changed and the gang bangers don’t respect him.

I’d very much like to see that, too, except that it would only hasten his deification by the blithering idiot class.

Wouldn’t hurt for him to do a lil’ Al Jolson-esque makeover, either.

I’m reminded of the question, who killed more people, charlie or ted kennedy. (ted 1, charlie 0)

Someone snuck him a cellphone (a guard?) and it made the news a year or so ago.

Richard Speck live more than half his life in prison for the night of rapes and murders of some nursing students he committed.

After his death in prison, some videotapes surfaced of him snorting cocaine, waving around wads of $50 bills and giving a BJ to some other dude.

Celebrity criminals can have the heat come down on them, but some have it pretty cushy on the inside.

Prisons are filled with corruption on both sides of the bars.

Every time I see a story about Manson and he is still alive I laugh. The reason I find it amusing is because if he had done this in Texas he would be long dead. I guess I am laughing at California for having to pay for this monster to continue to breathe all these years.

Personally, I think he should be released and given a reality show. It wouldn't be any crazier than the Barack Obama show.

Hell, Charlie looked better than Ted Kennedy, who was filthy rich...best doctors etc when he died at 77 years old.

In fact, Charlie looks better at nearly 80 years old, than most people I see in the late 60s, early 70s, on the streets.

Wouldn’t hurt for him to do a lil’ Al Jolson-esque makeover, either.

Ted Danson already tried that.

My understanding is that his death penalty sentence was commuted to life in prison (with possibility of parole) when the Supreme Court put a hold on the death penalty.

However, since his was not a participant in the actual murders (unlike John Holmes, whom the LA prosecutors protected in another murder case), a death sentence seems extreme.

Manson is not a nice man. However William Ayers and others are far worse, far more guilty, and far more free.

...and we work very hard to portray that image. Now stop announcing our secrets for the whole world to see.

In fact, compared to a lot of rich people, with the best doctors, medical care etc, Charlie looks like he's been staying at a stress free resort.

Ya look at the poor guy living in Ohio, almost 80 years old, who got beat up by all the blacks, looked like a broken down hermit compared to Charlie.

MTV 2014 announces a new reality show, Charlie’s Angels. 6 tele-attractive young ladies aged 18-22 are put in a halfway house for a new reality program. Each of them are given conjugal visits with their mentor known as Charlie for their weekly indoctrination against Western civilization.

Did you know that Charles Manson (A) was tested as “clear” by Scientologists and (B) had an E meter that he used on his followers at the ranch?

How many people are dead from Scientology and how many of the killers are in prison for life?

Of course he looks good! No job related stress, 3 square meals every day, a well equipped gym and a well stocked prison library, no drugs or booze, heck yes that would help any one look good.

I am ticked off my tax money helps support this vile creature.

Manson was convicted under joint-responsibility laws where all members of a conspiracy can be charged for the same crime, even if they all did not personally commit it.

And I do agree that we should go after the hate-preaching Imams for the crimes of their followers. Of course Caliph Obama would never allow for it...
