South Carolina Tea Party Leader Says She Doesn’t Know Anyone ‘That Does Not Despise Mitt Romney’

It’s no secret that Mitt Romney isn’t exactly a darling of the Tea Party, but Karen Martin, the head of the Spartanburg County, S.C., chapter, did not mince words when speaking to NPR’s Frank James about just how little they care for him.

“There’s no Tea Partier that I talk to in the state or nationally that would want to promote Romney,” Martin said. “Other than the people that have come out publicly and endorsed Mitt Romney and the people left over from his 2008 campaign, I do not personally know anyone that does not despise Mitt Romney and doesn’t hate the idea of him being our nominee.”

A combination of Romneycare, flip-flops on issues, and a perceived slight of the Tea Party by Romney have combined to make him incredibly unpopular within the movement. Martin said that her group felt “betrayed” by South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, a Tea Party favorite, when she endorsed Romney last year.

Unfortunately this is what is likely to be the choice come November. Who do we despise the least? Mitt or Obama? Seems like this is the choice in the last couple of elections. Last time it was Obama or McQueeg. The RINO’s put us in this predicament every time and it is not good for the betterment of this country. Obama has proven to be so bad that Mitt will be the only viable option.

We had years to prepare for this Primary and we failed miserably.

Mitt is Obama-white.... pro-abortion-check

Pro-gun control-check

Pro liberal judges-check

Pro-government union policies-check

Pro-progressive taxation-check

Pro-government “growing the economy”-check

Pro-homosexual marriage and military- check

Pro-government health care MANDATES-check

So exactly what is Mitt going to do differently than TOFUS?

If he's permitted to be the nominee, he'll be the end of the GOP as a viable party.

This is my opinion: the demise of the GOP would not be a bad thing. The elites have taken it over and it no longer will support us conservatives. Good riddance.

I do not dispise RINOmney.

I just think he’s a vapid dork without ever having done anything useful in his entire vapid life.

Sorta like the Obamaloon, but at least with a valid birth certificate.

I can’t imagine who the next SC appointment would be under Big Ears. I’ll have to go with Mittens. There is really no choice when you have a American hating muzzie taking over the nation. Get real, people.

Well, try to imagine the next SC appointment with Mitt.

Look at his past, for crying out loud.

Liberal, pro abortion, pro homo, just like Mitt.

There is no need to give up until he gets to 1,144.

Until then, Newt and Rick should both stay in, to try to prevent that from happening.

Romney is a Dem Trojan horse trying to take over the Pubs from the inside.

Romney’s dad was a student and supporter of Saul Alinsky.

Socialism is bad, whether it has a D or an R by it’s name.

We’ve got to TRY to stop him in the primaries.

Time for the GOP to decide if they are going to be a conservative party or a dem lite party.

That decision was already made long before this election cycle. Just because the MSM and the RATS label the GOP as "conservative" does not make it so.

Romney is in BIG trouble down South. Southern conservatives hate him, but he needs enough of them to show up to cancel out a huge-black vote.

The American-American culturally stunted Mittens has made clear that the feeling is mutual. Which is why he will lose.

We do not have a tea party House, we have a Republican house. I am not lonely either, but being home with my kids today does make me miss adult conversation. Adult conversation is not something I’m going to have with you obviously. Nowhere in my comment did I disrespect the military yet your response is quite angry about that. I would appreciate it however if you would quit gambling with my kids’ future. I think Jim rob feels the same way about this situation so you can find another message board of it is an issue.

Unfortuneately if Obama wins this election it may be our last. He is an unrepentant Communist and a foreign agent

I despise Senator John McCain, but I sure as hell voted for him last time! Four more years of this regime will put the last nail in the coffin of what was once the greatest country on Earth and the hope of all mankind.
