TULSA — Several members of the Tulsa chapter of the NAACP gathered at a north Tulsa church Friday evening for an emergency meeting to discuss what police have characterized as a possible "shooting spree" that targeted five people early Friday morning.
As news spread that the police are looking for a white man in connection with the shootings of five black people, people began saying they believe the shootings were racially motivated.
KRMG spoke with Tulsa City Councilor Jack Henderson as the meeting continued in the 2200 block of N. Peoria Avenue.
When asked if people in the community felt that the shooter or shooters were deliberately targeting black people, he replied "yes, absolutely."
He told KRMG the "word on the street is that this person would drive up to people walking, ask for directions, and when they would turn away, walk away, begin firing. That's truly a concern, and anybody would be (ill) at ease if you knew this was going on."
He added that "I've talked to the Mayor, and the Mayor assures me that the city is on top of this. The police chief, I've talked to him, they have a lot of people that are on this case, they'll be working around the clock."
Henderson said he urges anyone with information to come forward, and in the meantime he wants people to be careful. Also, he definitely wants to avoid any sort of vigilantism.
"Don't go out late at night walking by yourself, until these people are apprehended. We need to be careful, and we don't want anybody to go out and do any vigilante-type stuff either. Let the police do their jobs."
Depends on the state. In Pennsylvania you have the same right to use force to defend a third party as you would if you were the one attacked.
What they drummed into us in CCW class, though, is that we had better be DAMN sure that we knew who the good guy and who the bad guy was in any situation where we intervened. If we shot an undercover cop, we were screwed.
In most cases, though, that's clear enough. If there's a guy holding a knife to a woman's throat, he gets a bullet.
Think twice about sticking your neck out for a stranger. It’s sad to say, but is your life, your home, your family’s wealth and well being worthy of the person you are helping? Because entering into a situation bringing your gun can quickly cost you all of that, and the person you help may see you as the bad guy simply because you are have a gun. A stranger may end up being the biggest ingrate on the planet and care less what you have done and risked for them, and may well end up testifying against you.
My advice is to leave others to the police. They made their decision by being unarmed. Call 911 for them, and be a good witness, but don’t play hero for a stranger. Look what happened to Zimmerman. He was just trying to protect his neighbors. He should have stayed in his vehicle and on the phone. Where are all his neighbors now? Probably marching and wearing hoodies.

Not to mention you loose the protections under the law when intervening on behalf of a stranger.
Not to mention a man and wife thing. You intervene on behalf of the wife with the husband the wife more than likely will be all over your ass.
I’ve not had any situation requiring any force other than words since I was a kid. All I can do is give it thought but I imagine you could tell what’s going on.
I hope in never happens because it would be a huge major league hassle to use deadly force. My thinking is once the weapon comes out it WILL be used.

I hope I’m wrong, but if this is retribution for the black on white crimes that go mostly unnoticed, then militant black racists are getting perversly paid back.
In the mean time, as the media focuses on Trayvon Martin and now this problem in Tulsa, and as they keep ignoring the root causes of this violence - wich is black racism - they are only fanning the flames of worse violence yet to come.

Anyone remember Wayne Williams and the Atlanta child killings? Since it was a serial killing everyone just knew the perp was white. An avowed KKK member was investigated, but released. Turned out brother Williams was convicted for the deeds. Of course he maintains his innocence, but there aren’t many sitting in the pen for life who don’t.
You’re assuming too much, including the idea that there even were
any shootings. Just remember Tawana Brawley, the Duke Rape Case, Rathergate, and other leftist hoaxes too numerous to mention here. This is probably a racist hoax and, if not, the shooters were almost definitely black. The timing is just to convenient to be a bunch of whites.
The intense and purposeful race-baiting of this president is inciting this problem in America. He has empowered the malcontents, whiners, and ne'er-do-wells into endless throngs of self-pity and envy, with hope upon hope that they will intimidate those who oppose socialism/communisim into surrendering, there by making obama the "dictator".

Accusations are flying around, even when it's too early in the investigation. Wild people may take advantage and start something terrible.
Retaliation for previous incidents could be in progress already or the perception of it may invite more incidents all over the country.

The problem is that, since THEIR president has decided to choose sides in a race war, I no longer care how many of Holders People have to die before they realize that voting 95% for a racist cypher was less than totally wise.

I’ve divided feelings on that, while only sickos really want a war, looks like we are going to have it anyway, and, again,while I wish we could all get along, it’s becoming pretty obvious we are not going to, and a lot of those who won’t fight are going to become victims.
