NBC News' decision to air an edited call from George Zimmerman to police in the moments before he shot Trayvon Martin was "a mistake and not a deliberate act to misrepresent the phone call," according the president of network's news division. The edit in question, which aired on the network's flagship "Today" morning show last week, made it appear that Zimmerman told police that Martin was black without being prompted, when, in fact, the full tape reveals that the neighborhood watch captain only did so when responding to a question posed by a dispatcher. Under growing public pressure to explain the incident, NBC News President Steve Capus provided Reuters with the fullest explanation to date of how the edited call made it on air and what the network is doing to prevent such a consequential error from happening again.

In other words, it’s more convenient for NBC to claim this was an “accident” i.e. one race-baiting producer than a deliberate act of race-baiting by corporate directive.
I’m still asking: Where is the outrage from the Jewish and Hispanic communities demanding Due Process for George Zimmerman? His dad is Jewish and his mom is Hispanic. Even with the “doctored” pic, he still has Hispanic features.
My guess is that it was not only planned, the people involved got a kick out of their own cleverness. Add to that the satisfaction of accomplishing a task set for them by whoever is ultimately responsible for coordinating the outrage, and the "fired producer" - a journalistic equivalent of the so-called "lone gunman"* - probably wouldn't change a thing. Good foot soldiers of the proletariat know that rewards eventually follow such sacrifices.

The silver lining behind this cloud is: Only 59% of Registerd Blacks voted in ‘08; the year with the highest Black voter turn out ever. Well, the new has worn off now and the novelty is gone. Plus, a lot of Brothas are not happy with Prez dude because he has not produced for them like they thought he would. So, he will get less Black votes this time around.
Another point: This is why we need a Hispanic in the VP spot on the GOP Ticket. The Hispanic vote, for the GOP Ticket, can neutralize the Black vote for Obozo.

I am not so sure it was deliberate distortion.
Any journalist or historian must pick and choose which facts they believe relevant to the story.
I suspect to this editor’s perception the unedited tape showed clearly Zimmerman’s racism. So all he/she did was edit out those distracting bits of dialog in between the important parts. Didn’t change the meaning at all.
I, of course, disagree with that perception, as I suspect would all fair-minded people. But for someone focused enough on their cause, I can see the possibility of it not being concious deception.

Martin family lawyer, Crump, made an effort to make the case a trial in the public eye. It was Crump who involved Sharpton and Jackson, and it was Crump who was making incendiary and unsupported allegations to the press.
Why the hell does anyone pay any attention to NBC. The bias is incredible but what upsets me the most, many people do listen and believe the news this schlock outfit reports.
First of all, I cannot understand how the people who edited this and report this can look at themselves in the mirror. This is evil and WILL cause more racial strife and innocent people to get hurt or killed.
I want the truth and most of the people I know think if Zimmerman is guilty, prosecute him, but if he was attacked by Trayvon and was protecting himself, stop the lying for political gain. It seems the left was a divided country which is bad for all of us.

I heard on Sean Hannity’s radio show that his dad was Jewish. Did a Google search and it seemed to bear it out.
The hispanic community has large majorities of Mexicans and Cubans.
Those from other countries are split among many origins.
George’s mother is Peruvian.
That could account for a lack of outraged solidarity over his mistreatment, although it shouldn’t.
