Shared experiences connect Romney and Netanyahu
Mercury News.com ^ | April 7, 2012 | Michael Barbaro

The two young men had woefully little in common: one was a wealthy Mormon from Michigan, the other a middle-class Jew from Israel.

But in 1976, the lives of Mitt Romney and Benjamin Netanyahu intersected, briefly but indelibly, in the 16th-floor offices of the Boston Consulting Group, where both had been recruited as corporate advisers. At the most formative time of their careers, they sized each other up during the firm's weekly brainstorming sessions, absorbing the same profoundly analytical view of the world.

That shared experience decades ago led to a warm friendship, little known to outsiders, that is now rich with political intrigue: Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel, is making the case for military action against Iran; and Romney, the likely Republican presidential nominee, is attacking the Obama administration for not supporting Netanyahu more robustly.

The relationship between Netanyahu and Romney -- nurtured over meals in Boston, New York and Jerusalem; strengthened by a network of mutual friends; and heightened by their conservative ideologies -- has resulted in an unusually frank exchange of advice and insights on topics like politics, economics and the Middle East. Only a few weeks ago, on Super Tuesday, Netanyahu delivered a personal briefing by telephone to Romney about the situation in Iran.

"We can almost speak in shorthand," Romney said in an interview. "We share common experiences and have a perspective and underpinning which is similar."

Romney has suggested that he would not make any significant policy decisions about Israel without consulting Netanyahu -- it appeals to the neoconservatives and evangelical Christians who are fiercely protective of Israel.

Well, if Romney is a friend of Benjamin Netanyahu and a friend of Israel, that will make it easier for me to hold my nose and vote for him. I am Pro-Life, Pro-2nd Amendment, Pro-Family Values and Pro-Israel.

Netanyahu has standards.

RINOmney has whatever standards are popular during that given millisecond.

Netanyahu is a man.

RINOmney is a vapid dork.

Americans are about to discover that Romney has all the intelligence and half the charm of Joe Biden.

Interesting that this news comes from Rombots in California and not from insiders in Israel. And Romney is ‘conservative’ how? Because he only wears dark blue suits?

Neither Israel nor America are pro-life, but G-d is.

“However, the LORD did not turn from the fierceness of His great wrath with which His anger burned
against Judah, because of all the provocations with which Manasseh had provoked Him. And the LORD
said, “I will remove Judah also from My sight, as I have removed Israel. And I will cast off Jerusalem, this
city which I have chosen, and the temple (house) of which I said, ‘My name shall be there’.” “Surely at the
command (mouth) of the LORD it came upon Judah, to remove them from His sight because of the sins
of Manasseh, according to all that he had done, and also for the innocent blood which he shed, for he
filled Jerusalem with innocent blood; AND THE LORD WOULD NOT FORGIVE.” (All caps mine) 2
Kings 23: 26 & 27 and 24: 3 & 4.

Personally, I will vote for whoever does not get my Father angry. I fear my Father more than I fear man.

In a telling exchange during a Republican debate in December, Romney criticized Gingrich for making a disparaging remark about Palestinians, declaring: "Before I made a statement of that nature, I'd get on the phone to my friend, Bibi Netanyahu, and say: 'Would it help if I say this? What would you like me to do?' "
I watched that exchange and what I got out of it wasn't that Romney is a great friend of Netanyahu (though he may be) but that he's a pussy who will never stand up to villains, terrorists or thugs... or Obama.

little known to outsiders

That statement reflects Romney, he is an insider in DC. He is a RINO Traitor too.

Netanyahu can see through Mitt with out being "friends" and will not trust him.

I agree with you on all points you stated.

Hard to take a NYSlimes writer serious. I’ll believe it when I hear it directly from Bibi. If it’s true - that Rombama and Bibi are such close friends - it will come from Bibi himself.

Obama or Romney. Which one is better?

We have a choice as Romney seems to ne the best of what we have I’m 2012.

Do we walk away from supporting him and get four more years of Obama further destroying America.

It’s a shame that Romney is the “best of what we have in 2012”. But, when good Conservatives like Jim DeMint and Paul Ryan don’t have the balls to run, whatcha gonna do?

This nation will NOT survive 4 more years of Barack Obama. Look for a Revolution midway through his second term.

Oh my word.... Keep dreamin Romney supporters. Romney is the member of a false religion. A cult if you will and Netanyahu is one of God's chosen people. And while Netanyahu is blinded, like so many of his Jewish brethren, to the reality that Jesus Christ is his messiah the doctrines written in the Tanakh and which he follows are in fact written words of the one and only, true and living God. The book of mormon are the compilations of drug induced visions and the fantasies of a 12 year old farm boy. That same book of mormon has been debunked so many times it's not funny but... that's a theme for another discussion at another time. The point is Paul tells us, "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed."
Romney is NOT preaching any doctrine that even comes close to that which is in scripture and Benjamin Netanyahu would be a fool to trust him. Heck... Look at what Romney's doing to America? He cannot even stand on his own "conservative" record. Why? Because he does NOT HAVE ONE. Like obomba Romney is a liar. A wolf in sheep's clothing. By his fruits he is known and his fruits are higher taxes, romneycare, pro-abortion...... Everything Christians and conservatives are against.

Just sayin.

"We have a choice as Romney seems to ne the best of what we have I’m 2012."

He is? By who's standards? I listen to what Romney says and see no evidence that he's telling the truth. Romney says he's a conservative but what has he done that is "conservative?" I listen to Newt tell us that he's conservative and I can see decades of Conservative accomplishments. If I couldn't hear a word either said and had only their accomplishments to judge them by I'd have to conclude that Romney is no better than McCain or the white African American from Kenya occupying the White House. I'd also conclude that there is no one in the Republican field more Conservative than Newt.

Me being a "Christian" "Conservative" hardly think Romney's the best we have to offer in 2012.

But then that's just me.

Yes and no. The nation cannot survive a second obama term. If it comes to pass, the Nation will end amid much weeping and gnashing of teeth but will go out not with a bang but with a whimper. There will be no Revolution. An obama re-election will be an act of surrender and proof in itself that Americans are no longer made of stern enough stuff.

WTF are you talking about? Are you claiming that Romney is better than obomba? If so... Please.... Explain how. Show me his record on abortion. Not what he says but what he's done then show me how that is different that what obomba has done.
Show me his record on healthcare. I don't want to hear the smoke he's blowing up your *** but his real record and again... How is that different from what obomba has done?
Show me his record on taxes and how is that different that what obomba has done..... Aaaahhhhhh.... Don't get me started. I'm not the stupid one here. Forgive me if I refuse to "settle" for the lesser of two evils because a handful of invertebrates are unwilling to make a stand.
I said in '08 that McCain and obomba were of the same mold. I say in '12 that Romney and obomba are of the same mold. Convince me that I am wrong.

Best case scenario is Newt gets to a brokered convention and actually gets the opportunity to persuade the delegates to nominate him. Lord knows the RNC and Mormon church have done everything they can to keep him out of the news and off TV. I wouldn't doubt obomba's using some of the trillions he's pilfered from the American taxpayers for his re-election campaign to assist Romney in getting the nomination. He knows the only one he can beat is Romney.
The next best thing to Newt getting the nomination is that at such a brokered convention Sarah Palin get nominated making Newt her VP running mate. Either of those two scenarios are options I favor. Voting for one liberal over another simply because one has an R behind his name changes nothing. I'm tired of watching our country go down the toilet. I'm tired of wimps "compromising" away my rights. Until people in this country get back to basics and learn to comprehend the FACT that there are NO grey areas, this country and society as a whole is doomed. Right is right and wrong is wrong. There is no middle ground and to proselytize that there is a middle ground is to land on the side of evil. PERIOD! Obomba is evil. Romney is Evil. Both are narcissistic piles of scum.

Romney, like obomba is a charlatan. I don't buy their snake oil cures.

Sorry...

BTW.... Who's whining? Is calling those you disagree with "whiners" akin to calling everyone that doesn't buy someone's bs a "racist?"

The truth is the truth. More people need to stand up for the truth.

I'll await your answers to my questions above.

Thanks.

Remember what the scriptures say...

Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!
Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink:
Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him! (Isaiah 5:20-23)
