A Valley Hi resident apparently chased home invaders from his home Friday, exchanging gunfire with the would-be robbers, police reported.

The man was with his girlfriend at home in the 4000 block of Deer Cross Way at about 6:50 p.m. when three suspects forced their way into the home.

The men, described as two African Americans and a Hispanic, were wielding guns.

They demanded money and jewelry, but the victim was able to retrieve a shotgun.

It would be nice if the invaders were caught. Perhaps the sedan was stolen.

This guy better be able to prove he was shot at or he’ll be quietly going to jail after this and community support dies down. Brandishing and unlawful discharge, felony time.

This crap is happening way too often. Happened twice in my “safe” and “low crime” neighorhood in the past week.

I wonder if we are going to have thousands of home invasions occurring simultaneously? Kind of early reparations for slavery and the taking of the Southwest as a result of the war with Mexico

If somebody forces their way into your house and brandishes a gun, you are not legally required to let that intruder fire the first shot before you begin firing your gun at him.

While this is legally accurate even in California, what most citizens don't realize is that (in California) once he is OUTSIDE your home you may not shoot a perp who is retreating (even from inside your home), unless the perp has abducted a person or is actively aiming or firing a weapon at a person.

To prevent prosecution in a liberal citified California county, you will need to point to bullet holes in objects near you when you fired in self defense. No holes, and you were lying about the perp shooting at you.

You simply HAVE to know how liberal California works to survive here.

A team of two African Americans and a Hispanic? Apparently they are willing to let bygones be bygones — I guess this means we are over Martin-Zimmerman.

I don't know what state you live in but it isn't CA. Brandishing does not hold up inside your own house and neither dose unlawful discharge. If someone is inside your house in CA you can lawfully shoot them, all you have to do is say you feared for your life. This type of self defense has been upheld many times in CA. This shooter is in no danger of going to jail.

That is correct, however the sketchy story and comments at the website plus the identification of the car leads me to believe that the defender pursued the perps outside the home.

Sacramento is controlled by ultra liberal prosecutors and cops, and they will happily dirty trick the defender for the mistake of pursuing outside if he can be tricked into incriminating himself. (Likely already done)
