Gingrich Keeps Campaigning

Even as he acknowledged that Mitt Romney is in charge of the Republican race for the White House, Newt Gingrich emerges from the Easter weekend ready to continue his campaign for the White House, still refusing to get out of the GOP nomination fight.

Interviewed on Fox News Sunday, Gingrich admitted that you have to be "realistic" about where he is in the delegate count compared to Romney.

"Given the size of his organization, the number of primaries he's won, he's far and away the most likely Republican nominee," Gingrich said, as the former House Speaker then vowed to back Romney if necessary.

"And if he does get to 1144 delegates I'll support him. I'll do everything I can this fall to help him defeat Obama. Because the primary goal of the Republican party has to be to defeat Barack Obama."

Delegate counts by both media organizations and the Republican Party have Gingrich far behind Romney, who sports a sizeable advantage over Rick Santorum as well.

The current Associated Press delegate numbers have Romney with 660, Santorum at 281, Gingrich at 135 and Ron Paul at 51.

The numbers for Gingrich and Paul haven't moved in recent weeks.

But that's not stopping Gingrich and his wife Callista, who have an active schedule set for this week:

These are the events detailed by the Gingrich campaign for this week:

November 8, 1994, was the greatest and most satisfying political day of my lifetime. That afternoon, I had split my cable wiring in order to hook up 5 tvs in my den. And that night, I tuned to ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN and PBS- savored the repudiation of the Left, the Clintons and their enablers in the media. It was glorious.

Make no mistake, that night was orchestrated by the vision and guts of one man---- Newt Gingrich.

Today, on Fox News, I watched miscreant, ingrate and Romneybot Brit Hume, rub salt into the Speaker’s wound.

All right- if that’s how it is. But, for my one vote, I continue to stand with Gingrich. And, to Hume, Coulter, Drudge, the sell-out GOP media, the Gop-e and Romney, I say:

Photobucket

I'm in, until Newt is out.

Newt can still influence the message - as the article says.

Lord knows, neither of the others has any idea what to do or say.

The Speaker distinguishes himself every time he speaks.

Romney distinguishes himself by his ineligibility
and, of course, RomneyCARE.

Newt can stay in all the way to Tampa. Newt is the only

candidate qualified to be president so he needs to keep his

ideas in the conversation. Hume and the others are awful.

(we will lose the WH w/Mitt so the House/senate are the thing now and if the USSC strikes down Obaamcare then if we lose WH, be not so bad if we can get House/Senate we can stop Obama. Romney and Hume sure worked this together. Hume is ugly on the inside.

I’m in with you, VinL.

Newt’s back in DE on Wednesday—can’t wait to see where he will be.

Right now, he represents the only hope that Romney is not the eventual GOP nominee. And it is driving the GOP-E batsh#t crazy.

Hume totally hates Newt and blames Newt, in no small part for the death of Hume’s gay son. http://gawker.com/5877207/did-newt-gingrich-out-brit-humes-dead-gay-son

Thanks, Vin, for all your posts!

1994 means nothing to conservatives today, or Newt would already be engaged in doing to the Obama crowd what he did to the Clinton’s cabal in congress, but no, we’ve chosen Romney, by failing the old giant and ceded the field to Mitt.

You’ve been the resident wordsmith for Newt, Rita-— I’m merely making good on a debt.

As to your observation about 1994— I’m sure you agree that the GOP-e vividly remembers the grassroots insurgency of 94— which explains everything.

Thanks for the link. that’s the closest thing to actual info I’ve seen on this rumour.

Very nasty comments at the bottom about Newt , though.

"And if he does get to 1144 delegates I'll support him. I'll do everything I can this fall to help him defeat Obama. Because the primary goal of the Republican party has to be to defeat Barack Obama."

If one goes by the headlines and reactions by others, one would gather that Newt says he has failed. He has not. Newt said IF Romney gets the 1144 that he would support him. What is left unsaid is that SHOULD Romney not get the required 1144 delegates that there will be a fight at the convention.

Sometimes it pays to listen to what is not said.

Romney is a nightmare.. Obama is a brain hemorrhage..

The only difference between the two is Romney has an (R) next to his name, and he's going to take us down the road to socialism a little bit slower than Obama. He's still going to push us towards socialism.

And the people who claim that Obama is a reason to support Romney, they aren't giving reasons to vote for Romney, they are giving excuses to vote for Romney, and there is a huge difference.

I'll support Newt as much as I can, but I damn sure won't vote for Romney if he gets the nomination. As a Christian and America and Conservative, I cannot in good faith vote for somebody like Romney who has such a liberal record in the single campaign and election that he's won. You will not find me voting for a pro-abortion, pro-gun grabbing, pro-homosexual Republican. The GOP can take a hike if they want to nominate such a sleazeball.

I have been telling FReepers for several years that hume is not who we thought that he was... he was playing a part. He is one seriously vindictive, inside the beltway moderate.
