After weeks of silence and seclusion, George Zimmerman has released a public statement about the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, referring to incident as a "life altering event," on his website, therealgeorgezimmerman.com.

In a statement on the site, which Zimmerman's attorneys have confirmed to ABC News belongs to him, the 28-year-old wrote, "As a result of the incident and subsequent media coverage, I have been forced to leave my home, my school, my employer, my family, and ultimately my entire life."

The media have treated this guy like a jewell...Richard Jewell, that is.

I don't think they are the same one bit. Richard Jewell was just standing around. This dude actually shot and killed the kid. George was told not to do anything, but he decided to take action himself. He was on a neighborhood WATCH. He was supposed to observe and report. I don't think the cases are similar at all. What proof do you have that the kid was going to burglarize the places? Did George live in that neighborhood?

1. He lived there

2. He was told he did “not have to do that” by a dispatcher, not the police, so it is a stretch to say he was told NOT TO FOLLOW.

3. How does one “watch” if one does not watch when someone moves away?

4. He did report, a few times. When seconds count, the police are minutes away.

5. Yes he did kill the guy and that is far different than the Jewell, however, the result is the same as he is being hounded by the press without there having been even a charge brought as yet, if ever. And remember, a charge means there is reason to believe he did a crime, not that he is guilty of one as that will be decided in court. If he is found not guilty and you have a problem with that, just content yourself with the OJ case.

IMO the entire purpose of this plea is not to obtain funds, but to set up the case in the lawsuit: “I was so destitute and injured that I had to go on line and beg for assistance just to meet my daily expenses.”

Let’s see if I can dig up one when I was 28 years old. Or maybe one wearing my Marine Corps uniform. Or my Army uniform when I was about 45.
When somebody hands you your arse, don’t give it back to them and say “I think this needs a little more tenderizing”.

Oh you give me way more credit that I need. I don’t give a dang one way or the other. This should have been a local issue and that is it. A hispanic guy killing a black guy goes on everyday....actually numerous times a day especially in places like LA. Whatever the outcome, I don’t care.

“A hispanic guy killing a black guy goes on everyday....actually numerous times a day especially in places like LA.” And visa versa.

We definitely agree on this: “This should have been a local issue and that is it.” Of course with the media and Obama in full reelection mode, it was neededn to move the spotlight from failure to something nebulous.

“George was told not to do anything, but he decided to take action himself”
Obviously you have not lived in an area where crime is rampant. Gated communties are there for a reason and that is to prevent breakins and robberies. I question why Martin was not told to identify himself if he wondered around within the gated community. But fact is we do not know what exactly transpired. We do know that Obama, the media, Al Sharpton et al, Black Panthers are distorting the facts for all it’s worth. Why would the media alter tapes and videos if they were really interested in truth? Why then are they doing it? That is the subject matter. The courts will ferret out the facts. That is what they are there for.

ABC still trying to see Zimmerman killed — look at their pictures of the “angel” Traylon and the devil Zimmerman.

America, Guilty until proven innocent, and then still guilty if the liberals want to paint you that way. There needs to be some real change in his country, as in about 20% of the population being evicted, not based on color or religion, but based only loyalty to the constitution alone.

I live in a gated community. We have Citizens on Patrol. The first thing they do is attend training classes with the Police sub station close to us. They are told to patrol in cars, not on foot. They are to never, ever get out of their cars. If they see something suspicious, they are to call the police. And they are to never, never, never be armed under any circumstances. And again, never exit their vehicles.

In a Gated Community with Single Family houses, patrolling in a car makes sense as all the residences face the street.

In the Zimmerman case, the Gated Community is comprised of attached Townhouses, with some facing the street and others behind them with a common area in-between.

The only way of patrolling the common area, similar to where the Zimmerman incident took place BTW, was not on the street.

That is a good and valid point and one I had not considered. Also, here we have alleys for service, etc. So it makes sense here to patrol in vehicles. Thank you for pointing this out to me.

He’s wise for asking for money because he’s gonna need it.
The political class will see to it he’s broke, and in jail before it’s all over. Truth be damned.

Just realized I messed up the last sentence of my post.

It was supposed to read that the only way to patrol the common area is by foot.

OK, so Zimmerman shouldn’t have confronted Trayvon. I suppose Zimmerman should have just let him fracture his skull, risking brain damage and possibly death.

“The world is my country, all mankind are my brethren, and to do good is my religion.”

That is becoming a liberal bumper sticker. Mostly those who don’t want to acknowledge US better than anyone (”God bless ALL nations!!!”) or that religion (i.e., Christianity) does any good.

“They are told to patrol in cars, not on foot”

What does that prove? Zimmerman got out his car? Police most likely are telling “they” to stay put in their car for their own protection. Look, there is a lot to this story we do not know, it is up to the court system to decide, not rabble rousers.

The main issue is distortion by the press and the circus it has become.

Prove? It does not prove anything. I was just stating what we do here in this particular community. Period. You are looking to be offended where there is no reason to be. I was just stating a fact.
