a 12 gague is a perfect home protection gun.

Remington Model 870. Reliable and inexpensive. Everyone who is able to handle one that lives in your home should have one stored there and at the ready 24/7.

Ruger Model 10/22. Reliable and inexpensive. Everyone who is able to handle one that lives in your home should have one stored there and at the ready 24/7.

"Ruger Model 10/22??? Why in the world would you recommend everyone have one stored and at the ready 24/7?

Do you REALLY have a valid reason, or did you just want to post a nice picture?

I completely agree with your choice of the 12 gauge 870 and the 10/22. The 10/22 is not one of the best .22s but it has the advantage of quickly changeable mags and plenty of high (and low) quality 30, 40, or 50 round mags.

A .22LR out of a rifle barrel will tear the heck out of a human body and it is so easy to just keep firing until the target goes down. The 10/22 as they come are not the most accurate .22 rifles but they shoot pretty well, way better than is needed for across the room or even across the parking lot. With good quality mags they are very reliable and that is what counts.

Next is a pistol to keep beside your bed or in your car. There are so many good choices here that I am not even going to mention anything.
