National Right to Life, others endorse Romney (Dear Lord)
Baptist Press/Town Hall ^ | 4-12-12 | Michael Foust

National Right to Life and two other major pro-family groups have endorsed Mitt Romney for president, saying that on the issues of abortion and marriage, he stands with them.

National Right to Life's endorsement Thursday (April 12) came two days after Romney's leading challenger for the Republican nomination -- Rick Santorum -- dropped out, making Romney the presumptive nominee. Also endorsing Romney were the Susan B. Anthony List, a group that supports pro-life women for political office, and the National Organization for Marriage, which has led the charge nationwide in protecting the traditional definition of marriage.

In its endorsement, National Right to Life said Romney "has taken a strong pro-life position and is committed to implementing policies to protect the unborn." The organization said Romney:

-- opposes Roe v. Wade, having called the 1973 decision a "big mistake."

-- supports the Hyde Amendment, which prohibits the use of federal funds to pay for abortions.

-- backs the Mexico City Policy, which bans federal funds for organizations that perform or promote abortions in foreign countries.

"On pro-life issues, Mitt Romney and Barack Obama provide a stark contrast," said Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life. "As the country's most pro-abortion president, Barack Obama has pursued a radical pro-abortion agenda. It is now time for pro-life Americans to unite behind Mitt Romney. For the sake of unborn children, the disabled, and the elderly, we must win."

The Susan B. Anthony List made similar points and added that Romney has pledged to "appoint only constitutionalist judges to the federal bench" and also to defund Planned Parenthood.

"Women deserve a president who truly respects our views on an issue so central to womanhood," said Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. "A President Romney will be that man. If there was murkiness during the last election over Barack Obama's extreme abortion position, absolute clarity exists now -- and his abortion position is rejected by women young and old."

The National Organization for Marriage, which played key roles in preventing gay "marriage" from being legalized in California and Maine, said Romney was an early signer of the organization's pledge, which meant he was committing to:

-- support an amendment to the U.S. Constitution defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman.

-- appoint Supreme Court justices and an attorney general "who will apply the original meaning of the Constitution."

-- "vigorously" defend the federal Defense of Marriage Act in court.

-- establish a presidential commission on religious liberty.

-- advance legislation to allow District of Columbia citizens to vote on the definition of marriage. Gay "marriage" currently is legal in D.C.

Brian Brown, president of the National Organization for Marriage, said the group was "proud" to endorse Romney.

"President Obama," Brown said, "has declared our nation's marriage laws to be unconstitutional and not only has refused to defend them, his administration is actively working to repeal them in the courts. He's come out against state constitutional amendments defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman. And he has appointed leaders of the same-sex 'marriage' movement as national co-chairs of his reelection campaign.

Incredibly, Obama still apparently claims to personally support traditional marriage. With friends like President Obama, the institution of marriage doesn't need enemies."

You should stop making assumptions as you are usually wrong in those assumptions.

I supported Newt, but Newt bailed on Kansas, so I voted for Santorum.

Why is Massachusetts Citizens for Life supporting Romney still...?

Gosh, that's one's awfully easy to answer.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Romney is a leveraged buyout guy, and MCFL was one of his early purchases. NRTL cost a bit more, but not really that much, in the great scheme of things.

Rita, the GOP-e is sinister. The big boys have infiltrated the Tea Party, religious leaders and these nut cakes. At all levels, elites are elites-— and when one enters this Golden Hall, one checks his principles at the door.

No matter-—give ‘em hell anyway.

Because they’re just as stupid and corrupt as the NRLC.

What does that have to do with the price of beans in China, for determining whether the statement I made was true? The link I gave documented Romney’s own statements. Do you honestly think that Massachusetts Citizens for Life can change that fact by anything they say or do? Facts are facts. I know you don’t like them. You’ve spent a lot of time telling me a bunch of BS about how the facts regarding Obama’s documentation crimes doesn’t matter because the “popular people” don’t want to deal with those facts.

How old are you, anyway? 13?

10 years from now, when many of us are dead or bankrupted or in jail on trumped up political charges, you can all brag about how “pure” you were in 2012, and how you did not “compromise” -—

10 years from now, when Republicans have coerced all 50 states to sign onto Romneycare, legalized gay marriage nationally, instituted new taxes and fees to "help pay down the debt," and helped make sure abortion remains "safe, legal" and not so rare, what are you going to be bragging about?

If you think Romney's an accident, think again. This is a movement by the party to become more liberal. That's why the Pennsylvania Republican governor and state party endorsed Steve Welch for Senate. If Democrats got together and planned to pool their money to buy off the Republican party to make them run liberal candidates, things would be playing out exactly as they are now. And people like you appear to be fine with rubber-stamping the whole scam instead of standing on principle.

http://www.thepoliticalguide.com/Profiles/Senate/Pennsylvania/Steve_Welch/Scandals/Support_for_Obama_and_Sestak/

Up until 2005, he was a Republican. At that time, he switched his party registration to Democrat.

After switching his party, he donated $300 to Joe Sestak's Democratic congressional campaign. He also voted for Senator Barack Obama in the primary election in 2008.

In an interview with Dom Giodano in February of 2012, Mr Welch stated that he came running back the the Republican party after the stimulus package was voted on in 2009. However, he also maintains that he voted for John McCain in the general election despite this assertion that it was the stimulus package that changed his mind.

For those who didnt see her interview, Sean asked her if she thinks(If he DOES become the nominee) if Romney could be a Conservative and Palin said that she hopes that he would surround himself with Conservatives in his Administration(If he were to win) of course its wishful thinking on her part, dont know what more she could have said..she wants ABO(Anyone but Obama) Obama has been a disaster for this country, its unfortunate that the Establishment once again chose a leftist to be our candidate(Unless by some miracle Newt happens to win)..Oh she also said that she wants Newt and Ron Paul to stay in the race

Well said, I might add the survival of the ORG and being influence peddlers in DC is all that matters. Been that way for years. Romney bought them.

FR is here to stay in spite of all the Romney trolls that show up... Flip Floppers do not last and neither do Rinos. They tend to slither over to the DEM party where they belong.

What donation(s) to Planned Parenthood other than the one $150 one? I know that the Romney’s donated $15,000 to Massachusetts Citizens for Life, the group honoring him, in 2005.

Was there more than one donation to PP, and why? Was Ann’s breast cancer during that same time? I’ve been trying to find out why the donation was made, given that PP and the Breast Cancer foundation are usually in bed together... Just wondering.

“You know what I’m thinking. I’m sick.”

I am thinking Psalm 146, and that the Reichsführers and Gauleiters and kapos will have the reward they have earned in due course.

Our task is to keep the lamps trimmed, the oil supply up, and vigil kept. We are not to be conformed to the ways of world. We are not to rely on broken cisterns, and we are not to despair.

Shaking my head .. how ? How did we come to this?
How did so many learn to completely cast aside and
sacrifice/sell their principles to become slaves to
power and/or greed.

God have mercy on their souls. We are here but for
a very short time. Eternity is incalculable.

PP and Breast Cancer foundations have a great working relationship: Planned Parenthood causes breast cancer through their abortions, and the breast cancer foundations make their living off of pretending to try to cure cancer. These 2 co-dependent “services” continue to make sure that each other stays in business.

Sick but true.

I voted for Santorum.
I do not get to vote again.

However, common sense tells me it is probably over.

Newt will only get slightly more than half of the former Santorum vote.

That is not enough, as Newt is way, way behind in Delegates.

Right here on this forum you are either supporting Gingrich or you are supporting Romney. Which is it, and why?

And how important is this thing called religious freedom to you anyway? How easily will you give up and accept your own party betraying the US Constitution?
