GREENLAND, N.H. -- The Greenland chief of police was killed and four other officers were wounded as they tried to serve a warrant Thursday at a home in a New Hampshire town near the Massachusetts border.

The shootout happened at 517 Post Road in Greenland at about 6:30 p.m. Police officers and drug agents went to the home to serve a search warrant, and that is when the incident began.

"They entered the home, and they encountered an armed subject. The armed subject fired rounds at the officers," Attorney General Michael Delaney said.

The alleged gunman spent hours barricaded inside the home with a woman, but sources told NewsCenter 5's Michele McPhee that SWAT teams entered the home and expanded their search when the gunman was not found.

Greenland Police Chief Michael Maloney, who was set to retire in eight days, was killed.

What is the urge to invade a man’s castle?!!!!! That’s always a prescription for a disaster....especially if you’re dealing with drugs.

It is SO easy to park an unmarked at the end of the street .....and wait for him to come out .....and take him in with two others vehicles and six guys out in a very public place.

Any LEO training that is directing local PD’s to do this....is basically professional malpractice.

I was wondering if that was his parents’ house. Your typical firefighter wannabee doesn’t usually live in a four bedroom home on a one acre lot.

The unfortunate response to events such as this will be to further escalate the use of force, not decrease it.

As in “Our” government at Waco?

Why didn't the cops call in a fire and arrest him at the firehouse when he showed up? Too much authority and not enough brains, logic, and compassion.

Ones home is one's safe place. Once that is disturbed, nowhere to go but chaos.

They will never stop trying to arrest people for the drugs in their home. You see, the drug war is an industry now, it employes millions of people, from the corner lookout to the circuit judge and all people in between.

It is a multibillion dollar enterprise for the narcotics manufacturers to the industries crafting all the crap the drug warriors use. Private police academies flood the market (for profit) with recruits all eager to get into the drug war.

Police officers of all ranks are now being trained and equipped as urban infantry under the guise of anti-terrorism or active shooter scenarios, but it is just an extension of the drug war.

Curious twist in NH shooting, note stories and TIMELINE, DATES there may be more to this story than meets the eye or that the "authroities" are telling us... something sounds fishy.

Interesting information on Cullen Mutrie (the man who's home was invaded, who shot the police on April 12, 2012 and who was later found dead in the home) and what took place over several YEARS, PRIOR to the shooting, again, note the progression of stories, the TIMELINE, DATES and the original reason used for searching his home, "GUNS":

on January 19, 2012 Cullen Mutrie was arrested after police searched his home back in JULY of 2010 for possession of guns, they appear to have found two guns. His 2007 case plea deal (see below) prohibited him from carrying or possessing guns... while searching his home (July 2010) the police reportedly "found" a scale and one plastic bag on a coffee table containing vials filled with unknown substances, after later testing (Interestingly, the test results were just released by the state crime lab on January 18 of 2012), the substances turned out to be anabolic steroids. This is a list of what was found: trenbolone acetate, testosterone cypionate, and nandrolone decanote. He was arrested on January 19, 2012, and arraigned on February 8, 2012. The authorities had filed 9 felony charges against Mr. Mutrie. This is the back story; note the various DATES in the timeline:

Firefighter wannabe regrets plea... October 10, 2007 2:00 AM "PORTSMOUTH — A Greenland man who pleaded guilty to an assault at the Portsmouth Gas Light Co. restaurant wants to withdraw his plea because, he told a judge, he didn't know the resulting conviction (misdemeanor charge of simple assault) would hurt his chances of becoming a firefighter...."

Wannabe firefighter gets day in court... again... November 28, 2007 1:04 PM "PORTSMOUTH — A would-be firefighter was allowed to take back guilty pleas to assault charges because, a judge ruled, he misunderstood his lawyer’s advice and the potential career consequences.

An order written by District Court Judge Sawako Gardner, finds Cullen Mutrie, 25, of 517 Post Road, Greenland, “may not have been able to intelligently inquire about his career path and the consequences of his convictions....”

Result of Steroid Tests Finally Released, Charges Filed February 5, 2011 "Police officers seized various types of steroids from a resident of Portsmouth, NH in July 2010 but the charges were only filed recently...."

(Note: test results were just released by the state crime lab on January 18 of 2012)

"Authorities did not provide any information why it took them so long before releasing the test results. The possible cause of the delay could be due to the different scope of investigation by the police and the steroids were only found when they searched the suspect’s home....

(Note: Cullen Mutrie, 28, of 517 Post Road, Greenland was arrested on January 19, 2012)

POS according to who? According to he likes of Schumer et al, anyone with guns is a POS.

Expect more of this as government tyranny gets worse.

Five police officers serving a warrant for steroids?

Thank you for a little bit of sanity. I have guns and steroids in my house - I wonder if I'm next.

Sounding more and more like a police department needing to justify the expenditure on all that Rambo training and extra bang-bang toys.

Someone explain to me WHY steroids are illegal again?

First person to say "'roid rage" needs to go look up the stats on steroid free folks and their rates of domestic assuault and compare that to the weight lifting community. It's a non-issue.

Pure mission creep BS in the ongoing and illegal "war on drugs".

It gets better, the police supposedly “found” the steroids back in JULY 2010 while searching his house for evil GUNS... because of a MISDEMEANOR event which purportedly took place back in early 2007! And they didn’t charge him regarding the steroids until January 2012! See post 26 for details. Something appears to be fishy with the story... time will tell.

"Cullen Mutrie was a POS with guns."

Yes, the protagonist was also labeled "evil" by the authorities and the media in the book/movie Fahrenheit 451, but the facts may paint a different picture (post 26). Time will hopefully tell.

Naw... From reading around on other forums, this guy wasn't a choir boy by any stretch. But he also wasn't some drug dealing gang banger that needed the heavy end of a hammer dropped on him either. If they'd left him alone, he would have gone on to pursuing his dream of becoming a firefighter, failing, and ending up occupying a trailer park somewhere to live out his life in relative obscurity.

Just our weekly cluster-f*ck from the ongoing and illegal "war on drugs".

At Waco, the ATF had numerous opportunities to arrest the leader on a town store run...multiple times.

They chose to confront the Waco martyrs with automatic weapons and got their asses handed to them on a silver platter.

It took the FBI,(IIRC Ruby Ridge’s Lon Noriuchi was there also) the military and the ATF to firebomb the compound and murder its inhabitants.... it’s SWAT/LEO mentality. Thanks Janet....

I would have expected Globe readers to be all "See what happens when private citizens are allowed to have guns?"

Oh yeah, there was plenty of that.

I thought this only happened in big cities?

Southern New Sodom/Hampshire is essentially a suburb of Boston...I know police officers who have quit because 'things were getting out of control' as Boston criminals now see NH as 'easy pickings'. Home invasions are off the chart in this state. You could leave your doors unlocked as recently as the late 80's.

Now everybody knows what happens when you vote against the candidates who want to legalize drugs. Defend liberty with ballots, or your fellow citizens can and will defend liberty with bullets. The Second Amendment wasn't written for duck hunters.

Sounds like a 'Free Stater'...

“I know police officers who have quit because ‘things were getting out of control’”

==

Why on earth did they become police officers——to direct small town traffic?

The departments are better off without them.
