Hilary Rosen Was Right: Ann Romney Is Out of Touch with Most Women
Time ^ | 4-13-12 | Judith Warner

Posted on 04/13/2012 5:05:10 AM PDT by SJackson

What Republicans and Democrats alike don't understand is that the "mommy wars" are largely a thing of the past

A fierce Twitter firestorm erupted this week after Democratic strategist Hilary Rosen pointedly questioned Ann Romney’s fitness to serve as her husband’s ambassador on women’s economic issues. Noting to CNN’s Anderson Cooper that Romney — a daughter of privilege who became wealthier still while married to Mitt — had “never worked a day in her life,” Rosen voiced the suggestion that she was, perhaps, less than ideally suited for relaying the financial worries and stresses of most American women to her husband’s presidential campaign. “She’s never really dealt with the kinds of economic issues that a majority of the women in this country are facing, in terms of how do we feed our kids, how do we send them to school, and why do we worry about their future,” Rosen said.

Republicans counterattacked, as to be expected. Romney campaign strategist Eric Fehrnstrom denounced a “kill Ann” strategy that “in the process insults hardworking moms.” But what was surprising was that Democrats also engaged in Rosen-bashing:

Democratic strategist David Axelrod called Rosen’s words “inappropriate and offensive.”

Obama campaign manager Jim Messina tweeted: “She should apologize.”

Deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter added on: “Families must be off-limits on campaigns,” she said, “and I personally believe stay-at-home moms work harder than most of us do.”

I think they perceived (correctly) that Ann Romney is the greatest asset Mitt possesses and they were looking to destroy her early on.

I completely agree. I saw the first hand reaction in January of four conservative, but different, women (my wife included, and not Mitt fans) see Ann Romney speak on TV for the first time - the reaction was immediate and uniform - 'I really like her' - they each identified with her. Perhaps, the Libs have been searching for how to 'destroy' Ann Romney and this may have been a trial balloon. Whether it was or not ... you are absolutely correct that it ....

... blew up in their faces, deservedly so.

Ann Romney’s economic knowledge

Consider the thousands of economists, financial analysts, governmental departments, prestigous economics departments at universities and so forth that we have relied on to guide America’s economics. They have guided us into our big mess.

We ordinary Americans allowed ourselves to be led into economic territory that can be understood only by the experts, and the experts assured that the right things were being done.

The expertes obviously didn’t understand what they were doing (or are collectively corrupt). Why not be guided by the Ann Romneys and numerous other ordinary people to whom good economics is horse sense and discipline rather than elaborate mechanisms for taking additional risk?

So, you are voting for Obama, eh?

How does it feel to be a tool for the RAT Party? Does it salve your conservative principles?

I’ll take Ann Romney as first lady over the racist, anti-American Michelle.

Double-down and dig in when you’re getting your head kicked in.

Feminists have learned nothing in forty years.

Wouldn’t surprise me in the least.

People who underestimate the deviousness of this villain and his ability to rely on the mainstream media, Hollywwod and the Marxist-dominated universities and colleges to rally support for him do so at their own peril.

His response to this was so masterful that your supposition appears to me to be quite probable.

Michelle’s comments about not having the luxury of staying home struck me like Latrell Sprewell’s “I got my family to feed.”

You might want to ask the owner of this site about that. Let me save everybody the trouble and quote Jim Rob from a selection of his recent posts:

I’m not going to vote for an abortionist/socialist come hell or high water, so KMA!! Now get the hell off of FR if you’re going to try to push that lying bastard!! Get it through your thick skull: NO ROMNEY!! Sheesh!!

Guess you can’t read then RINO. I’ve posted my answer a hundred times in the last few days. Now take your RINO pushing ass off FR!!

Can’t you read?!! No effing ROMNEY!! Take your surrender monkey ass elsewhere!!

B/S!! Romney has no where close to a majority of the Republican voters!! Go to hell RINO pusher!!

NOTHIN is said without approvals, and a scheme in place.

This was to re-inforce the "Fluke-type" women's votes, relying on free baby-killing to cover for their "fun nights".

Inner-city tribal parasites continue to proliferate from tramps who don't know the fathers' names, live off the gubmint, and vote OBAMA. Likewise, the stay-at-home Mom and Nuclear Family is disgusting to the Progressive Agenda. We indoctrinate our Yewts in the Liberal Agenda at Public Skoolz, teach Sensitivity, "If it feels good, do it", and we have kids murdered over Air Jordan tennis shoes.

Yeah; the Homemaker is not a "career" to Liberals, it's "Neandrthal".

Raising kids to have values, knowing right from wrong, being clothed, fed, and accountable is missing in the Liberal "family", and it's ALWAYS someone else's fault.

Pandering to the women who wanna go out and party, but can kill the babies legally, will re-inforce why they need to vote "Democrat", and that's what this is all about.

Taxes up the ass have caused Mothers to be FORCED into the workforce in most cases; and this, too, is needed in the Socialist Utopia....the State will raise you good little socialist girls and boys in their Progressive-Agena-Based daycares....just move along.

“So now we have a liberal Democrat in the news media telling us Rosen is right.”

We expect it from the media. I worry more about the number of Freepers I see posting comments that Rosen was right. Not much different than post over on the DU, and it’s being done with complete impunity.

I’ve heard (not sure if true) that Ann and Mitt started married life in a basement apartment. If true, I think a lot of us can identify with a similar situation, eventually working hard to achieve a measure of success over the years.

That is such a leftist statement. How shallow they are. Just because a person has never experienced economic hardship they can't understand people who do? My father was raised in privilege. His father was a wealthy businessman and a philanthropist. Both were kind, generous men who understood the problems of their employees. My father was a Republican (although he never said what side he was on). I loved and respected my father as did our whole community. Only the narrow minded, leftists see a problem with understanding hardship of any kind. They just want to throw our money at the problem - it eases their consciouses and doesn’t cost them a dime.

Well, I guess I am more concerned with getting Obama out of the White Hut and getting a Republican Senate and House.

I expect that you will turn me in to Jim for purging from the roles of FR. Go for it.

Obama has never been homosexual in his life, so he’s out of touch with homosexuals.

Uh oh...can of worms opened there!

Calista is not in Palin’s league. Palin is a one percenter, in the looks department. As for HGH, I did not know that Sarah Palin’s bat speed is up there with Ryan Braun and Albert Pujols.

Judith Warner has never existed outside the NYC-DC liberal bubble, so she is out of touch with just about everybody.

I wonder if Hilary Rosen-Hack had similar opinions of Terezzzza Heinz? Or is she just a brazen, parasitic, hardcore leftwing hack.

Since when is it eeeevil to be wealthy? What Rosen said is that Ann, and by extension, all stay at home moms, of which I am one, don't have a right to an opinion on the economy, because we, 'never worked a day in our life'.

Don't you get it? This was a disaster for the Dems. Most of the moms I know are madder than a wet hen over this. There are commenters at DU and Kos that didn't like it.

Not only did they lose half the chick vote right there, they energized the meh voters like me, who were frankly unmotivated to vote for Romney before this.

I’m not going to tell you anything. Your answer speaks for itself. Romney was not my first choice, not my second choice, not my third choice, not my fourth choice. I do think zero must be defeated or it’s goodbye America as we know it.
