Accidents in which drivers mistakenly hit the gas instead of the brake tend to involve older female drivers in parking lots, a new government study has found. One of the study's most striking and consistent findings was that nearly two-thirds of drivers who had such accidents were female. When looking at all crashes, the reverse is true — about 60 percent of drivers involved in crashes are male, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration study noted. Another finding: Gas pedal accidents tend to occur more frequently among drivers over age 76 and under age 20. The age disparity showed up in both an analysis of more than 2,400 gas pedal accidents in a North Carolina state crash database and an analysis of nearly 900 news reports of such crashes. In the state database, accidents were almost equally likely to involve drivers under 20 as over 76, but in news reports about 40 percent of accidents involved elderly drivers — four times as many as young drivers.

Of course women mistake the gas pedal. Men mistake the accelerator.
Gas pedals are sexist. The laws of motion are sexist too, as is almost all of physics.

It is from nerve damage in the legs. I won’t drive a car unless it has a center emergency brake!!

It may be my age group, but, unless sick, I always drive my wife. As far as I know, so does everybody else, hence the 60% figure.
Women drivers no survivors...
Could it be that women, especially older women, are shorter and can’t reach the brake pedal in a hurry?
Well, I guess it couldn’t be more clear! We need new laws to solve this!
I was going to work today and some lady was at a stop light and had somehow put her car in reverse. I noticed she had it in reverse so I gave 20 feet or so of room behind her. Sure enough when the light changed she punched it and went in reverse for about 5 feet before stopping.
No man will ever ADMIT that he stepped on the wrong pedal!
Yeah, another bundle of tax money down the rat hole.
In reference to drivers and accidents, it’s been my experience that the most dangerous drivers on the road are young males driving pickups.
They generally tend to be very aggressive and reckless drivers.
Closely followed by young females driving compact cars and sports cars.
I own a chain of car washes and have observed all this for years
With exceptions here and there....my aunt...dixiechick2000 who have both had formal sports driving training
Women simply drive worse
And old people
And teen boys drive wildest...young men too

as opposed to the thirty-something babe who almost t-boned me because she had her face buried in an Egg McMuffin...
