Spies from China, Russia and Iran infect American universities to steal gov’t, corporate secrets

American universities have become infected with foreign spies posing as humble students and researchers, who are working to steal government secrets and new technologies to take back to their own countries.

Untold numbers of foreign agents are hidden among the thousands of legitimate international students who are studying science, technology and engineering in the US.

China, Russia and Iran are among the nations who are attempting to exploit the culture of openness and transparency in American higher education. …

Several recent arrests and discoveries illustrate the point. Even the high-profile network of Russian sleeper agents that was dismantled in 2010 had ties to spying at American universities.

Lidiya Guryeva aka Cynthia Murphy, who lived a suburban life in Montclair, New Jersey, held multiple degrees from prestigious colleges like Columbia University and NYU. …

However, on the academic spying front, China seems to be the biggest player of them all.

China employs up to 3,000 shell companies that it uses to try to acquire us technology secrets … It also has an army of student spies. Some of them are merely students who are coerced into spying. Others are plants posing as students—trained foreign operatives with ulterior motives. …

Hell, with our university professors, it may actually be safer with foreign spies there on campus. Otherwise who would pay attention to the subterfuge going on?

Be careful of the Daily Mail. They seem to know way too much about what’s going on here for a UK newspaper. Really, where do you think they’re getting this info anyways? ;-)

One thing I want to see in a GOP administrstion is a complete halt to all student grants for college majors whose only purpose is to manufacture socialists. Right behind thst would be a halt of all aid for any remaining courses of study that don’t dedicate at least 75% of credits to courses directly related to the major. Today, it’s impossible to avoid certain courses that only exist so hard-left professors can get a crack at indoctrinating you, regardless of your major.

Well my angle on it was that our professors can do as vile a things as they want, since nobody seems to be watching or give a damn about it.

If authorities thought some spies were hanging out there, perhaps some interest would be shown by authorities.

I’d love to see some crack-downs on what take place on our campuses.

Academia in this country is one of single greatest threats to our liberties and national security, second only to the media!

I appreciate it when I see others address this issue.  You've recognized we have a problem and want something done about it.  So do I.

You see, this and other pet peeves are not addressed when we hold power, and that drives me crazy.  Why not?  What the hell!

These universities either get federal dollars, or their student bodies get government loans to pay their tuition.  This being the case, the federal government has a vested interest in the materials presented to those students.  It has a vested interest in seeing that the materials presented are not subversive, and that the profesoral staff be close to partity, Republican vs Democrat.  For that matter, the same is true for our K-12th grade schools.  Don't tell me it's proper for a high school English teacher to be encouraging their students to engage in political activity totally unrelated to English.

Professors and teachers should be presenting materials that are class related.  They should be teaching history and concepts, not indoctrination and activism.

I would charge my Justice Department with doing an undercover investigation of all university campuses.  I would also charge Justice with checking out what underlying forces are operating on our lower education campuses.

When the results were in, I'd address the public on the matter, and declare our education campuses to be non-partisain zones. I have no problem with campus groups that want to focus on politics as long as no profesoral credits or directions to participate were involved.

Any student causing problems for local law enforcement or campus infrastructure, would lose their student loans.  Any professor that violated a new set of codes would find themselves stripped of the ability to address young men and women in the university setting.  Any lower education employees found to be gaming the system would also be deemed to be gulity of a level of child abuse, and abuse of authority and forbidden to hold a position of authority in our education system.

If a professor is giving credit for his students to participate in Leftist protests, I would strip them of their ability to participate on education campuses.

I would give these universities 12 months to conform to these guidelines, or forfeit all federal dollars and sanctioning for students to attend with government loans.

Any unAmerican activites would result in the professor or teacher being banned from the education system.  I'd even contemplate prosectuion.

I would take about 12 months before our schools came into compliance.  And that would be the end of it.  If it wasn't, I'd order my Justice Department to lower the boom.

“There are concerns with University of Mi engineering dept and China. China threat “

What are you, paranoid. China is a backwards country that isn’t going anywhere.

...or so I was told that (or more like screamed that) a few years ago on this site.
