While I believe every human has a right to protect himself, the freedom we have is affirmed by our Constitution and includeds the unabridged right to carry arms.

I am not, however, in favor of extending the affirmation of this right to those not American Citizens. It is up to their home countries. Further, extending this affirmation to include non Americans under the aegis of the 2nd Amendment sets a precedent and WILL eventually lead to other ‘rights’ being granted for non-citizens...

IOW HELL NO!

I disagree with your descriptions of what is going on.

I agree only with your first few words, that every human has the right to defend themselves.

That is a FACT.

That right comes from the creator God.

That is the point Newt made.

He calls upon the NRA, other countries and the UN to recognize the God given human right to self defense.

He does not say anyone, any entity, can give these rights to others, he says others already have these rights from God, but powerful interests refuse to recognize that they do have them.

Your worry that somehow this is an effort, or can be twisted into an effort, to give American rights to non Americans, is an impossibility.

It is from God. If you recognize that it exists and stop denying people those rights, that goes from God to recognition by entities that now deny that right to those entities coming to recognize that right.

It does not, cannot, travel a path that takes it from the Constitution and on that basis gives others a right from that document.

All that document ever did was recognize this God given right.

That’s all.

It didn’t confer that right on us, much less anyone else.

Newt gets it.

I’m glad somebody does.

Sorry you don’t.
