‘Don’t Let It Fester’: Romney’s Tax Return Delay Could Bode Badly [six-month extension]
WTMA The Big Talker ^ | April 15, 2012

NEW YORK) -- After President Obama released his 2011 tax returns Friday, the pressure has been mounting for his Republican rival Mitt Romney to do the same.

The day after the president put out his tax information, Romney filed for a six-month extension on his own taxes, a move that Wall Street Journal editorial page editor Paul Gigot warned against Sunday during the “This Week” roundtable. Gigot cautioned Romney not to “let it fester.”

“I would have gotten the tax returns out three or four months ago or six months ago or a year ago,” Gigot said. “I don’t think you want that to be the focus of the argument.”

.....Romney campaign adviser Kevin Madden pointed out that the likely GOP nominee has already disclose d his estimated income for 2011 — about $21 million — and completed the “exhaustive” financial disclosure forms required for all presidential candidates.

“I think the more important debate that we’re going to have is about what we’re going to be doing with the American people’s tax dollars when we get to Washington,” Madden said.

Romney is the worst candidate ever

A leftwinger running as a rightwing Wall Streeter caricature right out of a Hollyweird script.

I don’t know if Romney has released all of his school records all the down to kindergarten, but he should. So the next time a ‘journalist’ asks him for his tax records, he could ask for an exchange of tax records for hussein’s school records.
It could be that Romney may be baiting Hussein on this issue. If Hussein keeps this up, the reciprocal call for Hussein’s school records (via surrogates) will increase. I expect a similar game to play out with religion as Hussein attempts to impugn Mormonism.

They’re already making excuses for a lousy Romney presidency.

Romney isn’t going to win any debates.

He will not win a debate over ObamaCare since he is the one who wrote the USA TODAY column suggesting a national individual mandate on healthcare to Obama. Plus there is RomneyCare.

His tax release will come out at the exact worst time for his campaign, by design. He will continue to make stupid gaffes like “I like firing people” and “I’m not concerned about the very poor” as if his speech writer is a leftwing Hollyweird hack writing Mittens as a Wall Street villain or something.

It is like he only knows how to pretend to be a conservative (which he isn’t) from watching Hollywood films.

Even though Wall Street will donate their cash to Obama, the Occupy Wall Street movement will be back with as vengeance against Romney. At every campaign appearance they will get more coverage than him.

He does not attract conservatives, has no chance with liberals and moderates won’t trust him. He has no chance.

They have served their conservative souls for Romney.

but... they won’t have to make excuses for a Romney Presidency - I think it’ll be a moot point.

Gov. Palin Commands RESPECT,
while the BISHOP Romney has had to buy it.

FLASHBACK:

The McCain/Palin ticket was up ++4 to 10 pts
in some polls, days prior to Election 2008.
So rather than helping the GOP, Romney and
TeamROMNEY and the RNME (Republican National Media Establishment)
decided …to attack Gov. Palin to throw Election2008.

Romney, and the Van der Sloot RNME RINOs for Obama in 2008

Late in October, The American Spectator's The Prowler revealed:
"Former Mitt Romney presidential campaign staffers…
have been involved in spreading anti-Palin spin to reporters, seeking to diminish her standing after the election.
'Sarah Palin is a lightweight, she won't be the first, not even the third, person people will think of when it comes to 2012,'
says one former Romney aide…
'The only serious candidate ready to challenge to lead the Republican Party is Mitt Romney.
"Some former Romney aides were behind the recent leaks to media, including CNN, that Governor Sarah Palin was a 'diva' and was going off message intentionally."

The Palmetto Scoop reported: "One of the first stories to hit the national airwaves was
the claim of a major internal strife between close McCain aides and the folks handling his running mate Sarah Palin."
"I’m told by very good sources that this was indeed the case and that a rift had developed, but it was between Palin’s people and the staffers brought on from the failed presidential campaign of former Gov. Mitt Romney, not McCain aides."
"The sources said nearly 80 percent of Romney’s former staff was absorbed by McCain and these individuals were responsible for what amounts to a premeditated, last-minute sabotage of Palin."
… aides loyal to Romney inside the McCain campaign, said The Scoop, reportedly saw
that Palin would be a serious contender for the Republican nomination in 2012 or 2016, which made her a threat to another presidential quest by Romney.

"These staffers are now out trying to finish her off ….hoping it would ingratiate themselves with Mitt Romney."

"Who's the Palin Leaker from the McCain Campaign?
National Review Online The publication of a Vanity Fair profile of Sarah Palin
appears to have opened old wounds in the McCain campaign.
... the source of the “Diva” leak was Nicolle Wallace’s husband."

"Peeking Out From the McCain Wreckage: Mitt Romney"

"Someone's got to say it: IS MITT ROMNEY RESPONSIBLE FOR OBAMA'S VICTORY?"

"Vanity: Team Romney Sabotaged Palin and Continuing to Do So?"

"Romney Supporters Trashing Palin"

"Romney advisors sniping at Palin?"

LOL, so Romney’s doing a rerun of the same issue that destroyed him in South Carolina. “Maybe I’ll release ‘em later.” And people still think it’s time to “coalesce” around this guy when 20 states and over 1,000 delegates yet to be voted on say we have a chance to get a better candidate?

I could care less if he ever released his returns.

This thread - http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2872473/posts

contains the most well-reasond expose of the hopelessness of a Romney campaign I’ve seen concerning the fiscal and tax issue - forget the flip-flopping and social issues.

The Romney-pushing elites have to be delusional, trying to foist this gaffe-prone, blue-jean and button-down-collar shirt wearing corporate raider on us.

Do you think the button-down-collar shirts he wears with those blue-jeans are Brooks Brothers?

His return must involve dozens, if not hundreds, of partnership K-1s. He’ll be doing well if he can finalize within six months.

It’s a sign of the weakness of his campaign that this was ever allowed to become an issue.

Why don’t we go and vote for obama and work on his campaign. That’ll show ‘em. At least we can destroy the GOP, nevermind that the Dems will rule forever. We need to uphold our principles even if Obama sends us to a gulag.

I agree it is bad for Romney to delay his tax return release...How the hell does Romney think that this is not going to be played against him when the Obama main campaign strategy is going to be based on Romney weatlh and Bain Capital?

Very few give a damn about Obama college transcripts...But when Romney wealth is going to be a main strategy in Obama re-election campaign than a huge number of voters are going to give a lot attention about Romney taxes...

Look, I’m a Newt guy, like Romney as little as most here, but this is a non-issue. Lots of people routinely don’t file until October 15, and this household is one of them. If you have even a moderately complicated tax return, it is often difficult to get all the pieces in final form in time to get your taxes done by April 15. What this is, is an opportunity to push the Fairtax.

Romney’s people need to push for Obama’s college and other records on this.

This should be a no-brainer for Romney. Release NOTHING until Obama releases previously sealed records relevant to the office he wishes to hold. As the press screams and yells remind them of Obama’s sealed records. Let's be fair and treat everyone equally.
