Photos taken by a French satellite show glaciers in a mountain range west of the Himalayas have grown during the last decade.
The growing glaciers were found in the Karakoram range, which spans the borders between Pakistan, India and China and is home to the world's second highest peak, K2. The startling find has baffled scientists

French scientists from the National Centre for Scientific Research and the University of Grenoble, were forced to rely on satellite images, to study the region - because much of the Karakoram range is inaccessible.
They compared observations made in 1999 and 2008 and found a marginal mass increase. They estimated the glaciers had gained between 0.11 and 0.22 metres of ice each year.

But, but, but the IPCC’s Dr Rajendra Pachauri said that all those Himalayan glaciers would be gone in a couple of decades.
Just six months ago from the Denver post:
“BOULDER — The U.S. government is deploying Colorado scientists to lead a $5.4 million effort to gauge the impact of shrinking Himalayan glaciers on water supplies across Asia.”

Thank god those government scientists were able to reverse that shrinking.

I would imagine that the amount of winter precipitation has more to do with glaciers growing than a 1-2 F change in temperature either way when the average temperature stays way below freezing anyway.
Not a good indicator either way, IMHO.
Well, OK, maybe it’s not global warming, but it IS climate change.
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
