I’ve found that firefighters tend to be much more outspoken than law enforcement, in general. When they’re dashing into a fire to save someone, they’re not wondering if the people inside are Republican or Democrat.
I hate to say it this way, and I hope I’m not flamed for saying it this way, but white people need to start sticking up for themselves and for those who express the thoughts and feelings akin to their own. Blacks are allowed to do it without any fear of reprisal, but whites have to parse their words. It’s disgusting.

He is a government employee. I recall from my Army days that you were not allowed to express your political opinion. Here, it’s not really even politics he is expressing but since he is supposed to be neutral, he is dumb for putting anything on his “Facebook” page. Look people, Facebook is very risky.
I’m not afraid to express my beliefs in a public forum. I will not, however, put the safety of my family on the line through an anonymously searchable forum.
Someone wants to follow me home from a town hall, fine. Someone wants to track my whereabouts with a GPS tracker or a network of “spies,” fine. Someone wants to confront me for my views in public, at a restaurant, at a grocery store, fine.
But to put up my personal whereabouts for any one on the web to search and find, no thanks. I’m known to make rash decisions, but I’m not a fool.

IIRC, there was a teacher in Mount Dora Florida who posted his convictions about homosexuality on his personal Facebook page. The speech police in the media tried to force him out of his job too...and we conservatives spoke out. I believe he still has his job!

I don't understand why hoodies are considered ghetto. I wear hoodies frequently, and a lot of young people wear hoodies, certainly not just young, black males. There is nothing about a hoodie that should cause one to be suspicious.
I’ve never, ever heard of a case where a fireman or firemen for that matter have asked the race of a dwelling inhabitant of a burning building. Never.
His opinion is his 1st Amendment right and should not be abridged. A case can be made for professions such as LEOs where their citizen interactions are more up-close, and the result is often deadly, but not here.

Captain Beckman has my utmost respect. Enter a burning building is a walk in the park compared to the grilling our country’s scumbag media is going to give him.
Others have already said it; as a white person Beckman’s rights to express himself on race issues don’t exist in the USA. The right needs to be reclaimed, and it’s going to take brave men such as Beckman to do it.

I submit, however, that firemen in this particular regard are far, far above LEOs wherein there are so many examples of power tripping, race bias and general criminal behavior.
