Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) plans to marry his longtime partner in July, which will make him the first member of Congress in a same-sex marriage.
“I think it’s important that my colleagues interact with a married gay man,” Frank said in an interview with New York magazine published online Sunday.
Frank, who plans to retire from Congress this year after 16 terms, became the first openly gay member of Congress in 1987. Frank announced in January his plan to marry longtime partner Jim Ready. The marriage will take place in Massachusetts, one of the six states that have legalized gay marriage.
“I do think, to be honest, if I was running for reelection, I might have tried to put the marriage off until after the election, because it just becomes a complication,” Frank said in the interview. “But I did want to get married while I was still in office.” He called the ability to do so before he retires an “unintended benefit.”

The moment Barney Frank enters his “Gay Marriage” the Republican leaders of the House as well as the Republican members of the House can vote to Expel Frank from the House!
Demand that your Republican Congressman move to expel Barney Frank from Congress!
This would also be a great issue going into the 2012 Election!

I think you may have unconvered the very reason that they are getting married. Remember when Obamacare was thrust onto the public and San Fran Nan said it would have to pass for everyone to know what was in it? There were provisions for Congressional members and high ranking officials to be exempted from parts of it.
