Bob Lutz Slams 'Right-Wing Talk Show Guys' Over Volt

He makes no bones about being a Republican. Yet Bob Lutz, even though he might not work for General Motors anymore, still has plenty of choice words for some fellow Republicans, specifically “the right wing talk show guys,” whom he feels helped put a real kink in the Chevy Volt’s sales curve.

During an interview with Plug In America’s Jeff U’Ren, Lutz gave his two cents on a number of Volt related subjects, saying that in his eyes, early marketing was a bit tepid, which reflected in early sales numbers, though he did say that even then, demand was on a steep upward curve.

But that was until the NHTSA crash test and subsequent probe, which saw, as Lutz mentioned, “the likes of Lou Dobbs, Bill O’Reilly, Rush Limbaugh even the beloved Reverend Huckabee, all talking about the highly flammable Chevrolet Volt.”

However, despite the aftermath of all this, namely a shutdown of Volt production to balance output with inventory, Lutz said that based on information from GM, March is expected to have been a record sales month.

He also said that earning European Car of the Year honors was the first time an American designed, and built car has ever won the prestigious accolade.

“You would think that would get a little attention in the media,” he joked, “but don’t wait for O’Reilly to say it.”

Oh please. What put the “kink” in the sales is the price and the general quality of the so-called vehicle. Lutz is an idiot.

It was not radio hosts that caused the recall due to poor batteries.

Yeah, right. That's as meaningful as Obama's Nobel Peace Prize!!!

If the car was not financed on the backs of children not yet born by a government motor company, I’d give it a fair hearing. For now Bob Lutz can get his thieving hand out of my pocket.

My calculator’s running out of digits but I think that’s the 10,587,928th incident of someone beholden to government largesse attempting to stifle the free speech of others.

Bob, man, I hate to break it to you - you can stick a battery in cow manure, and it’s still cow manure.

Yet Bob Lutz, even though he might not work for General Motors anymore

excerpt:

"General Motors said Friday it has rehired auto veteran Bob Lutz as a consultant.

Lutz, a well-traveled "car guy," retired from GM last year, but GM says he has been offering advice "informally" since then.

No word of what he'll be paid.

Seems an odd move. GM's sales and earnings suggest it's doing pretty well. But hiring a consultant suggests things aren't going well and you need some help."

GM: C'mon back, Bob Lutz

Right there is your problem Bob. This is AMERICA, not Europe.
I lived in England. Different circumstances for driving and transportation.
I America the Volt is an over priced piece of crap that has to be sold with the aid of taxpayer dollars........

They call the Republican party "The Stupid Party" because of stupid people like Lutz.

GM was the poster child for the Peter Principle, and Lutz is the second best example there.

Sadly stupid is forever, while ignorant may not be.
