Remember when mom and dad wouldn't let sis see Elvis cause he swiveled his hips. Soon after they brought home hoola hoops and the were the first to try them out and show US how they worked.

LOL, my Mother and Aunt said the same thing about Elvis, and, Mom and Dad both laughed their heads off using the hoola hoops when my sister and I both received ours.

THX, I haven't thought about that for years!

I can still remember that as a teenager in 1957 I would come home from high school and immediately turn on the TV to watch “Bandstand.”

And your response:

Anyone who listened to rock, pop, doo-wop or R&B in the 50s and 60s has. American Bandstand was the rock answer to “Your Hit Parade,” which you probably haven’t heard of either.

Wolfman23601 reminds me of those wet-behind-the-ears people who think that if it happened before they were born, well, it really didn't happen.

Memories stimulated by the passing of Dick Clark will bring lots of those good times. It was a time of innocense we were “safe” protected by the greatest generation. Money wasn’t plentiful but we knew what was important: Faith, Family, Friends, Fun....Lot’s of fun. Today we know it was all apart of disFUNctional, but then we thought it was normal and good. We were/are blessed.

Loved Geiselle McKensey on Hit Parade. Was so disappointed when Tenn Ernie Ford’s SIXTEEN TONS went off the charts. The always had such neat sets and settings of the songs.

oh they were fun and good time days...and I do recall those neat kids from the Band stand days..

sometime wish they would return..at this stage I have less days ahead of me than are behind me..and am thankful for all I've had...I feel bad for thoes young folks that will struggle to just put food on the table let alone buy a house.

This once great Nation is in worst shape than I've ever seen..

Ha ha ha! You are too young to even know American Bandstand. It was such a fun show. Dick Clark hosted it for 31 seasons. The show featured teenagers dancing to Top 40 music.

He died so young. He was only a teenager.

Great moments in television, the 13th Floor Elevators on American Bandstand

Dick Clark: "Which one of you is the head of the group?"
Tommy Hall: "Well, we're all heads."

Pumpkin is still alive, thank God. He’s doing well but we thought we were going to lose him to an intestinal blockage (which turned out to be a massive hairball he passed). Then he had a hematoma in his ear, which had to be operated on.

Other than that,he’s OK! He’s going to be 11 next month. He’s a house cat who will not set foot outdoors!

I have ‘Guyana Tragedy’ on DVD. It s pretty good for a made-for-TV movie. Powers Boothe won the Emmy for his role and he truly deserved it. He died too soon in ‘Red Dawn’,though. :(

It’s funny,isn’t it?

I haven’t watched the New Year’s Eve program for a while, which is why I foolishly thought Dick Clark was still doing it. :/

I don’t like watching the ball drop. It’s too depressing.
