Delegates force Hatch into primary for first time since 1976

Sen. Orrin Hatch fell 31 votes shy of winning the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate, forcing him into a primary election for the first time since his first election in 1976.

36 years is long enough. He hit his primary opponent in 1976 for being in the Senate too long...18 years.

Its a bit premature he still won more than 50% of the delegates.

In Washington an incumbents has lots of power, made so largely because of the corrupt rules of the house & senate that favor the people who have manged the get elected the most consecutive times.(Insolently the same folk most likely to favor Washington’s power)

Hatch is far from defeated.

It may or may not be. His fellow Mormon challenger worked at Bain and he got an award last year from Dick Armey’s FreedomWorks where TeaParty “primaried” Bob Bennet is a fellow.
