There are a couple of observations here:
First, about two weeks ago...I watched an interview where they were talking about the expenditures of the Obama camp. The strategy in 2008 was spend big early, then coast along (assuming that McCain really didn’t have a strong vote). The people in charge are the same group from 2008, and one would suspect they are using the exact same strategy. If they have maxed out at this point on big-name contribution folks....they will be broke by late summer.
Second, if Clinton knows that Hillary is the likely replacement on the ticket for VP....he’ll help. If he knows this isn’t the case...I doubt that he really wants to help. Based on recent health comments in the news...I’m not even sure if he’d appreciate traveling around and making appearances anyway.
Third and final, I think whoever is in the running for VP...has to drag along a fair number of contributors. So there might be some games going on. The President may not have many choices about who to select for the position. This character is hoping that he can get the big push in 2016 by being the VP for four years of Obama....so coughing up the contribution folks...may be worth the money.
4 more years of Obama is a disgusting thought!
What would be the optimal time for Joe to have a ‘disabling stoke’.
