ABC reporter and global warming enthusiast Bill Blakemore on Sunday condescendingly dismissed climate change skeptics as "denialists." In a piece on ABCNews.com, he called for yet more advocacy on the part of journalists.
After noting that confidence in the science of climate change has varied from year to year, Blakemore huffed that these beliefs "don't seem to be responding all that much, [Professor Jon Krosnick] says, to whatever the global warming denialist campaigns may have been doing."
Blakemore then lectured meteorologists for not being biased enough:
A number of Americas TV meteorologists and other broadcast weatherpersons have been accused by peer-reviewed climate scientists either of being greatly uninformed about the science of the basics of manmade global warming, or, at the very least, of shying away from any mention of it during broadcasts for fear of losing ratings by driving their audience away with worrisome news.
Instead, complain these scientists, U.S. TV weather journalists, feeling the need to provide some explanation for the unusual weather, often escape into a simplistic nearest-cause answer, blaming the extreme weather on the jet stream, while avoiding the science that connects the jet streams behavior to manmade global warming
as well as ignoring other larger global patterns that also project such extremes.

I watched two comedies on TV yesterday.....
“The Day After Tomorrow” and “2012”
Both HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!
So what, exactly, are this guys credentials for assessing scientific accuracy?
Bill stopped being a journalist and became an alarmist advocate the minute he opended his cake hole. All cake hole with him, too.
Global warming is a household phrase these days, and it has led to a situation in which far too many educated people believe that mankind is hastening the destruction of the world through industry and civilization. But where is the evidence to support these claims? In this impossible-to-put-down book Harold Ambler presents the history of climate in ways that are accessible to the average Joe or Jill and which make it clear that in terms of temperature, weather, and climate we have been here before. Without compromising on scientific detail, Ambler spends each chapter focusing on a different facet of climate science including sunspots, tradewinds, computer modeling, and data collection. He also deftly connects political stakeholders in the global warming arena to various distortions of the science. This distillation of information gives the reader the ability to decide whether global warming is a tangible threat or a convenient propaganda tool. |
Not that this isn't obvious to everyone here, but there's no such science. Models cannot predict the behavior of the jet under global warming or any other circumstances. If they could, we would have accurate weather forecasts.
Any “authority” talking such Chicken Little fantasy should be required to ride a bicycle everywhere, eat only what they can grow in their yard, and wear only what they can produce without any impact on any living thing.
Then they can authoritatively show us what they expect of us.
A reporter?
An ABC reporter?
Does anyone even imagine that this loon could pass a science course?
Bwahahahahahahahahah!!
Well put. It is like predicting EXACTLY how a piece of glass will break when hit with a hammer, or exactly how a snow flake will look before it forms.
Nature loves CHAOS...
Some of these nuts want to burn our homes down to punish us for not believing their global warming lies. I don’t understand why the Secret Service isn’t looking into these threats from liberals.
Are they too busy whoring around on our dime?
Easy - they add up the 'cool people' and if there's enough of the in crowd that believes it's true, then it's true. Science by vote... Think of it as like high school - no, think of it like junior high...
1. The Earth's climate is a dynamic system with literally millions of input parameters. We should expect it to change. If it were stable over time, that would be the amazing thing... so yeah, incremental changes in climate should not be particularly surprising nor alarming.
2. Thinking that we:
a) can fully understand it,
b) have any influence on it, or
c) can do anything about it
requires a huge (and thus far unwarranted) logical leap from where we stand right now.
How does this Elixir salesmen explain why the earth is cooling? Oh yeah, Global Warming.
We have a much better chance of having another Ice Age than warming.
Pray for America
Oh God, ABC reporters are soooooooo stupid. It like IS the jet stream that's causing this rather warm winter. Guess Blakemore's jealous of the folks at NBC who can twist tapes to give false impressions like they did with Zimmerman. Too bad meteorologists have more integrity. Then again, almost every profession has more integrity than the MSM... Eff you ABC...
