Don't worry, Lily. After the gun grabbers get rid of all the assault weapons and handguns, they'll be sure to come after your "high-powered sniper rifle" next.

Taking up arms

April 25, 2012

I wrote an op-ed for today’s New York Times, pointing out the obvious: that the NRA doesn’t have hunters’ best interests in mind. Not surprisingly, the emails are already pouring in. I’ll blog about these responses in a few days. For now, I’m off to buy a few hard copies of the paper.

******

I grew up in Takoma Park, Maryland, which is a cool, hippie suburb of Washington, D.C. I graduated from Wesleyan University with a degree in film studies and worked in New York City’s independent film industry before becoming a newspaper reporter in 2004.

I’ve written articles about everything from pirate attacks to professional mini-golfers to dogs trained to find wild animal poop for science experiments. Along the way, I’ve won numerous awards, including a prestigious Knight-Wallace Fellowship at the University of Michigan.

My first book will be published in June 2012 by Grand Central Publishing. I also write a weekly column for The Bulletin.

I live in Bend, Oregon with my husband, Scott, our son, Sam, and our dog, Sylvia. Our last name is pronounced mc-CULL-oh.

It’s OK, Lily - I upgraded to Life membership in your place this year, so the NRA won’t miss you.

NYT finds some leftist dupe to bash NRA. Nothing new here. Plus we get some comments from the NRA bashers here. Nothing new there either.

“I’m a hunter and a sportswoman. I own guns, but not for self-defense. I support gun control laws. I would happily vote to repeal the Stand Your Ground law in my home state of Oregon. In other words, the N.R.A. does not represent me. “

Lily could benefit from taking Constitution 101 at her local community college.

I own guns, but not for self-defense.

Effing moron. That sentence shows she Lily dumber than dirt.

I wonder what precious Lily uses for self defense? A pillow?

Well, guess what lady, the 2nd Amendment ain't about hunting.

I don't hunt, so banning hunting wouldn't affect me in the least.

Hunting is a declining sport in this country any way.

Sales of hunting guns are down, even as gun sales hit record numbers. What people are buying are concealed carry pistols and assault rifles.

What's the female version of Elmer Fudd aka Ray Schoenke called?

I doubt this idiot has even read the "stand your ground laws" let alone understand what it is. As far as gun control goes, your guns are next. They are called sniper rifles.

90 percent of gun owners do not belong to the N.R.A.

I drive a car but I'm not a NASCAR fan.....

You don't represent the vast, vast majority of gun owners either.

The only people threatening hunting are the leftist aka progressive animal lovers. They would rather watch wild animals die of hunger, because of over population. Then allow hunters to thin out the herds. The leftist aka progressives gun haters are still for banning guns. The SC slowed them down for awhile. As for global warming. The planet is over 6 billion years old. It has went through 6 or more cooling and heating cycles. It is called evolution. As for loss of habitat. Where is your house located? Was it once prime wild lands?
