Complete Title:California Bill Would Ban Psychotherapy Aimed at Changing Under-18-Year-Olds’ Same-Sex “Desires, Attraction, or Conduct”
The bill is SB 1172, and it bans “psychotherapy” of under-18-year-olds “aimed at altering the sexual or romantic desires, attractions, or conduct of a person toward people of the same sex so that the desire, attraction, or conduct is eliminated or reduced or might instead be directed toward people of a different sex.” This so regardless of whether the patient or the patient’s parents want the therapy to take place.
The bill also regulates such psychotherapy for adults, but the outright prohibition applies only to under-18-year-olds.
So even if the patient wants to take the therapy, a decision made in their own free will, it is still banned.
I haven't looked through the bill enough to know if both the therapist and patient are subject to legal penalties such as jail time for violating the bill's terms or are aimed at the therapist only.
Liberals are out to destroy this country from the inside and out, No aspect of life, living is exempt.
My guess is that this might fall afoul of discrimination rules, since it does not similarly prohibit therapy aimed at convincing under-18s that they might really be gay.
In other words, if a child is confused about their sexuality, this bill would ban a therapist from determining that the child was really straight, but would not ban the therapist from determining that the child was really gay.
It therefore implies that any child who doesn’t clearly and without confusion identify themselves as straight is actually supposed to be gay, and can only be counselled to be gay.
What does it take to introduce a bill and what are the prospects of its defeat/passage? (We know Brown would probably sign it.)
Imagine if you will ... the shrieking and grinding of liberal teeth if ever a CA Bill would seek to BAN one of their pet projects or activity ....

Why of course... and conservative legal teams could really have a lot of fun with this in court.
You're right about the tilt of the bill. However, be careful about using the enemy's terminology.
Many teenagers are confused by their sexuality. The "gay agenda" crowd uses that fact to claim the kids are confused about their sexuality.
An illegal and unconstitutional prohibition.
This bill is madness. End of story.

Oh gosh. Guess we’ll have to go back to using whips and chains.
Well, I guess we’ll see if the folks in California would rather have the government make their treatment decisions, or leave to their doctor and themselves. I don’t think this would hold up in court anyway.
but of course, it’ll be just fine to try to convince those who feel they are straight to believe otherwise.
