Exactly. I’ve lost nothing in Mexico and could care less if I never see that filthy third world hellhole for the rest of my days, except for National Geographic specials and/or the Disney Channel.
But the Feds come down hard on any US Police Dept trying the same thing to illegal alien's cars here.

I was at the Alamo last week, and on a sign proclaiming the Alamo as “The Birth Place of Texas Liberty” the same sign explained that by entering the grounds of the Alamo I was providing “implied consent for search of my personal and property”. That is Liberty, Texas style!

Mexico’s merely cleaning up the crowd of deadbeats who drive all over the USA sliding between states with dubious looking plates, temporary paper documents that are given great latitude here are not recognized in Mexico! These vehicles are predominately cars driven by illegals crossing over the boarder time and time again. The people who actively traffic in stolen vehicles from the USA are moving thousands of cars south. They are using Mexico as a dead drop for their booty, which is next trans shipped all over the world. Last year an estimated 250,000 vehicles are involved. The Mexican police are merely taking their cut. Somethings never change, why should they?
It would be racism to try that stunt with Mexicans crossing into our side. NO SARCASM.

Way back in 1970 I tiik my family over to Mexico, we were warned then not to drive ur own vehicle over. The streets were pretty safe then—we walked.
It takes a special insurance policy. You have to pay extra to be covered in mexico. Its not a big deal.
The biggest risk to your car in mexico is a flat tire. Their roads are riddled with nails, screws, bolts, and sharp objects. You will average one flat tire per month in towns and one per week in rural areas with unpaved roads. There are lots of tire shops in mexico.

It is certainly no big deal to me; I have never been to Mexico and never will be. I do find it telling that I have been to Canada several times, and don’t need a special insurance policy to do so.
Do these people not read their insurance policies? Your auto insurance isn’t valid south of the border. Go to Mexico at your own risk, take your vehicle at the very large risk you won’t bring it back

Actually, if you have temp tags, it isn’t a great idea to go joy-riding out of STATE, much less, the country. You can bet your last dollar that your chances of getting pulled over for the most trivial “offence” will go up dramatically, with good reason-generally, those are very easy to forge, and police departments can just barely keep up with REAL plates.
This could be bad news for the people in Arizona whose vehicles are being stolen by illegal alien “coyotes” to be used to make trips back and forth across the border to sneak in more illegal aliens. Usually, when they steal a new Ford F-250, they throw out all of the registration paperwork at the construction site where they steal the diesel fuel to make the trips.
From what I understand, the issue isn’t that American car insurance companies won’t cover your car in Mexico. The issue is that the Mexican government does not recognize car insurance from America. They insist that you buy a Mexican car insurance policy.
Bottom line is that Mexico does not allow American car insurance companies to operate in Mexico.
I would be afraid to drive in Mexico anyway. Heard too many horror stories.
