A ceremony was held in Krakow, Poland April 18, 2012 on the eve of Holocaust Remembrance Day honoring members of the Allied Forces who liberated the concentration camps during WWII. Along with Holocaust survivors and thousands of students, American veterans in their late 80s and early 90s traveled to Poland to participate in the ceremony along with one Canadian who took part in the campaign in Western Europe.
They also participated in the March of the Living from Auschwitz to Birkenau. The annual March of the Living program brings thousands of young people from around the world each year on Holocaust Remembrance Day to Auschwitz-Birkenau to honour the memory of the victims of the Holocaust and to pledge to build a better world for all humanity.

Fascinating bunch of videos at the link! I watched several, heatbreaking speech by the one holocast survivor wh lost his grandfather, grandmother and 10 year old cousin in the first 24 hours, and then his brother who had kept his spirits up for so long, followed by the speech by one 87 year old US Army liberator who was only 19 went he found the camp. They truly were the Greatest Generation.
