State's immigration tide shifts back to Mexico
Minneapolis Star-Tribune ^ | April 29, 2012 | by: ALLIE SHAH and PAM LOUWAGIE

Sales of suitcases and duffel bags are brisk at Las Petacas Luggage on E. Lake Street in Minneapolis.

Owner Santos Jimenez Hernandes says he sells lots of luggage to people on their way back to Mexico.

"The majority of the people are telling me that they've had problems with immigration," he said.

Signs of the change are evident in Minnesota, where the number of Mexican-born immigrants has "leveled off some" over the past five years and is now around 60,000, according to estimates from State Demographer Susan Brower.

Brower said her sense is that the number of jobs has declined. "There's less of a pull to come here," she said.

Immigration attorney Julie Zimmer said she has counseled Mexican immigrant clients who are giving up on life in the United States because of the poor economy and fears of coming under the spotlight of deportation authorities.

"I hear a lot of clients saying, 'You know what, I'm done. I can't find a job or it's not sustaining me and my family,'" Zimmer said.

They want her advice, she said, on crossing the border without getting detained on the way out.

So, illegal aliens are retunring to Mexico because of the mess Obama has made of the eocnomy.

Great time to get our laws and procedures in place as soon as Obama is defeated. Then, when the economy is boomibng again in acouple of years, we can have a credible, sensible, and workable border.

Oh, BTW, I still haven’t read any stories about Americans flocking to Mexico to live...crossing the border illegally to try and find work there. Hmm...perhaps the “immigration tide” has not shifted at all...ya think?

They arrived with a backpack full of drugs or plastic bag with an extra T-shirt, a pair of socks and a LA Dodgers baseball cap and they’re going home with luggage. Cool.

Seems to me that we hear that they’re going home every four years. I think both parties want to keep border control off the table in campaign years.

The RATS are now in favor of building a wall — to keep them in!

No!

I strongly suspect an horrific and calculated lie.

As far as jobs, my observation is that illegal aliens adapt quite well to life on welfare.

One suspects that the major reason that illegal aliens ever go back to mexico is for a vacation.

"We still have an obligation as a country to fix our immigration policy," Keller said. "The vast majority of people are making a better life for themselves and their families here, and are going to stay."

We still have an obligation to enforce the law, and if this story is to be believed, it shows once again that self-deportation is the answer. When jobs become scarce illegals leave, and jobs can be made scarce by a poor economy, or by strict law enforcement, or both.

But I've no doubt that the proliferation of stories such as this are setting up another justification for granting amnesty to the millions of illegals now here. See, the problem is no longer a problem so we might as well be humane and give those already here citizenship.

This is the BIG LIE! There is no way that Latinos are going back to their ‘hell hole’ country of origin. This is the land of milk and honey for them especially when any lack of jobs are backed by welfare.

Notice all the stories about this of late. The media propaganda arm for the OBL is in full swing.

Exactly, godown to your local DSS office and see them wall to wall with their anchor babies on every program they have. They then go out and get into brand new 40K SUV’s that the baby daddy buys with cash off the books.

They are not going anywhere.

This sounds like a BS story to me, meant to diffuse the anger of real Americans toward the lawlessness of immigration enforcement. Bob

“Oh, BTW, I still haven’t read any stories about Americans flocking to Mexico to live....”

I agree with all that you said.

AND, I certainly would NEVER move there and as it is, I will not even visit Mexico.

Funny, I have recently fantasized about how much fun it would be to drive, towing our Airstream, from my house down to South America. I would like to travel to Chili, at least. Unfortunately, it will never be a safe trip, not in my lifetime.

Heck, I am ALWAYS armed and it’s getting tough to feel safe traveling within the U.S..

This line we are being given about the mexican illegals is seen by me as nothing more that election year lies.

You are right that both parties are complicit in this. Remember George W., John McCain, Gingrich, Rick Perry and Marco Rubio to name a few. Illegal immigration separates the wheat from the chaff. Everyone who supports illegal immigration is benefitting from it in some way whether by political power or wealth and even the churches are benefitting because of the new people filling the pews.

Notice how the deportation of the father is resulting in the deportation of the wife and three kids. Deport one illegal and four more will follow. This is what is called self-deportation.

One of the things that gets me is that this poor “migrant” can afford three children when most Americans only have two children.

The welfare office is run by Democrats and they are told not to interfere with the illegals getting their checks, housing, medicaid, food stamps, etc. Look at Aunt Zetunie, Obama’s aunt who came here from Kenya, stayed here illegally while living in subsidized housing.
