One day in early 2007, Bob Woodward poked his head into my office. He and his wife, Elsa, had been out for dinner the night before with Ben Bradlee and his wife, Sally Quinn. Bradlee had written a memoir in 1995, but he had another book left on his contract, and he and Sally were looking for somebody to help them out. I told them they should hire you, Bob said.
Bob posts at FR, so be careful who you swap stories with BigMac. Last year, I posted what I learned from GG Liddy and Woodward was anxious to learn what Gordon shared with me in about Watergate. He’s a real good guy BTW

I’ve always speculated that the twin facts that Deep Throat knew so much and yet wasn’t identified by Nixon or anyone else is (was, will be, has been) evidence that time travel is possible (It will be happened; it shall be going to be happening; it will be was an event that could will have been taken place in the future).
But what do I know? I’m a nut-job conspiracy theorist...
Dang
I thought I had it made.

You have to get up mighty early yesterday morning to beat me...
Earlier OTHERS who became involved in the Watergate event were also resident in that building ~ even attended what I took to be a beer party where I was introduced to Howard Hunt ~ and others.
The KGB guy resident in DC who held the money stash for the big boys who'd visit from time to time lived across the hall. There were Congressional aides, spies (ours and theirs), state department folks with access to permanently leased apartments (In that building), and billeting for Secret Service guys on the top floor.
On any given day you could find the Attorney General's wife at the next door Drug Fair buying hair dye, leaving the limo and the driver out front.
The PLO (and their friends) dominated the coffee shop in that same Drug Fair.
Arlington Towers was SPOOK CENTRAL back in the day.
So, the question is did the "Posties" do their information acquisition there at Arlington Towers, or elsewhere as they said in the various articles and books they've produced on the matter?
One place in one of the books clearly describes a spot I knew well ~ inside the only parking garage on the site ~
If so, Felt wasn't "Deep Throat" ~ and as Ben guesses no such individual may have existed.
Yet...
From what I gleamed, the guy that claimed he was Deep Throat was in fact the #2 guy at the FBI, and fed the then-junior reporters the FBI-collected info.
Why? He was ticked off at Nixon because J. Edgar had just died, and Nixon went outside for the new Director, and #2 expected the job.
And Nixon did eventually find out who was feeding the WaPo.
I didn't get either the author or the title, but it must be a very recent release.
I'll speculate and say this is Bradlee's response to that book's publication. I don't recall Bradlee being mentioned during the appearance, but I could have missed that part.
You gleamed that huh?
Just to be clear - Bob - who?
But, otoh, Felt was such a boob that he may have made a false confession just to get the attention he so craved. I think I need to buy more tinfoil for my hat!
Really, wouldn't you think a guy who thought he should become the FBI Director might be a little strange!,P>What we have here is one of the folks who KNEW all the stuff the Post had dug up telling us that Felt didn't corroborate all of it ~ which means the FBI never did find out everything.
