Walker raises $13 million since January (WI)

Madison - Gov. Scott Walker raised an unprecedented $13.2 million since January to fight off the recall bid against him, far outdistancing his Democratic challengers and driving home the challenge they will have in beating the Republican incumbent.

Crisscrossing the country on fundraising trips, Walker has raised more than $25 million in total since January 2011 and has $4.8 million in cash on hand - numbers unlike any that have been seen for a political candidate in Wisconsin.

His fundraising numbers dwarf what his Democratic rivals have raised and are almost on par with that of second-tier presidential candidates. For instance, Rick Santorum raised $18.5 million between Jan. 1 and March 31 and Newt Gingrich raised just under $10 million during that period.

Walker has been able to raise so much because of the national appeal he developed with conservatives after his high-profile fight with labor unions and - perhaps more significantly - a quirk in Wisconsin law that allows unlimited fundraising while recalls are pending.

"Wisconsin's never seen anything like this kind of money," said Jay Heck, executive director of Common Cause in Wisconsin. "This is all to persuade a relatively tiny universe of undecided voters. It'll be the highest cost per voter spent in the history of the nation in terms of the cost of persuading people."

Normally, donors can give a maximum of $10,000 to a candidate for governor. But from the time recall petitions are taken out to the time a recall election is called, donors can give any amount.

~snip~

In comparison, Democratic challenger Kathleen Falk raised $1 million since January for her recall bid while Tom Barrett raised more than three-quarters of a million dollars in the just over three weeks he had been in the race.

Don’t forget that Barrett, or Falk, will get a huge infusion of cash from the Unions as soon as one of them wins the Primary.

No mention of the mega millions that the unions spent on organizing the recall effort, and will continue to spend...

BTW..IIRC I read something a while back that indicated that Kleefish might be in trouble. Is Walker's campaign also aimed at saving her?

Any recent news/polls/thoughts on the other recall races for the state senate?

How much is his opposition kicking in?

$40 million? $50 million? On top of what they've already spent on recalls, demonstrations, media, mayhem.

Kleefish doesn’t have a primary opponent, so she’ll be running with Walker in the general on June 5. One vote will be for both her and Walker together, just like it is in a normal election.

This would explain why I get a fundraising letter in the snail mail from him EVERY SINGLE DAY.

I'm pretty sure he spent every penny I donated to him sending me letters asking for more.

Rush, Levin, Hannity, all the rest of the big money talk show hosts need to step up to the plate and donate what they can to Gov. Walker. Not to mention the free enterprise industrialists, if there are any of them left who are conservative. The unions will surely have their funds funneled to his opponent.

Whew! That's good news! Plus Rebecca Kleefish is gorgeous & articulate & intelligent, unlike the demoRAT ugly beeeotches! It is incredible how the demonic hatred & evil to the core beliefs of liberals/lefties/union hags, just projects itself into the faces of liberals, so that their facial characteristics are distorted into twisted, wrinkled, truly demonic looking faces. Kind of like the perpetual anger & scowl face of phatass mabelle michelle 0dumb0.

I got a call this evening from Gov. Walker’s phone bank asking for a donation. I wish I had it to send, but I don’t. Told them I would pray for him. That’s the best I can do.

Thank you. Scott appreciates that more than you know. In fact, that is what keeps him going.

Scott Walker is a real hero to me. I hope he runs for president sometime before I pass this realm.

I learned something new (to me) about him this weekend. Redistricting has put us into a new Congressional District, and our new (to us) Congressman spoke to the lucheon I attended. He commented that he had known Scott Walker since Scott was in high school. Apparently Scott was the delegate from his town to Boys’ State and Boys’ Nation. While at Boys’ Nation he was elected President. Later he stopped by Congressman Petri’s office and they went to lunch. Not only that, Scott was an Eagle Scout. So, it is obvious that Scott’s talents for leadership were apparent very early.
